Ok, I am scraping the bottom of the barrel here but worth to ask. Are most people here with newly built or upgraded machines? My Pc is about 2 weeks old and I also saw multiple people saying their configurations are new. So idk how this might be connected but there is not much left to ask.

Posted this on another thread but wanted to ask here as well.

Most likely the problem is in the Windows 11 24H2 update

I have the same issue with Windows 10 22H2. So it's not just Windows 11.
What is different in my case compared to most reports here, is that for me the game works without crashing when i change renderer do DirectX11.
Unfortunatelly, the game stutters heavily in DirectX11 mode due to shaders loading on the fly.

It is also possible that there are a few different causes of crashes.
bumping again
Switching off multi thread in POE options prevents the freeze when I switch zones/use portal.

I imagine that "fix" is something that may work for others. I'm by no means a tech person but is there a way that we can have an option like "Dynamic Multi-Threading" or some such name where the game auto turns off multi threading when zoning to prevent the freeze and then re-enables it when we get to the new zone?

Manually doing it is tedious but manageable but if it can be automated that would be swell.
still no fix
disabling multithreading tanks performance

that aint fix or solution
freaking ggg can fix that already

its only problem with their game

Ive seen 299292 posts about this
legit scared to play at the moment :/

I get that most gaming companies review threads with issues that are occurring and post a "known issues" thread to basically inform everyone as to what they know is going on with their game.

However, with that being said, this issue has been going on since launch and there hasn't been a single update from GGG with their technical team to post a single reply with ANY Troubleshooting issues whatsoever.

I understand that there is a lot to take on with the Early Access release of the game, but technical issues far outrank that of game issues period. These hard crashes can cause serious PC issues and must be taken as high priority over much of anything else.

At some point, a technical advisor needs to start coming into the forums or discord and getting more knowledge into the situation and at least conversing with the public not only as a way to show face, but also to at least let us know something is progressing. While the game is 30 dollars, a lot of us spent a LOT more money than that buying this game only to have to turn around and not play the game because of ridiculous crashing and pc locking.

At this stage in the game, it is not a "Free game." When you purchase a product, at least show signs that any and all issues that are happening will be addressed in a timely manner. This type of issue is 100% detrimental to any PC that has it.

Also - no we shouldn't go back through 82 pages of a forum to try what people are saying. It's a lot to sift through. At least create a thread from a moderator stating "Try these things and post your feedback."

+1. This guy's post 100% cannot be said enough. Everyone keep bumping.
I'm currently looking into the logs inside the folder My Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2\poe2_production
Crash dumps are encrypted, but it gives us a timestamp to look into the Path of Exile 2\logs\Client.txt.

At the time of crash there are things like these 2 most common ones:
Spoiler
[CRIT Client 14400] [D3D12] Queue Signal failed
[CRIT Client 1520] Failed to decompress (corrupted data)

These ones I found just one instance of both before PC crash:
Spoiler
[CRIT Client 1492] No collision callback set! MoveTo was not called before setting up line sweeper. Metadata/Pet/BetaKiwis/BaronKiwi
[CRIT Client 16632] No collision callback set! MoveTo was not called before setting up line sweeper. Metadata/Monsters/Skeletons/FungalSkeletonOneHandSword@6

Also at multiple times it crashed just after these 2 lines:
Spoiler
[SCENE] Height Map Texture: 720 x 720
[ENTITY] Finalize static entities

in different starts differnt texture resolutions are stated...
Looks like in these cases the PC crashed before the error is logged.

On successful load there are usually lines like these after "Finalize static entities":
Spoiler
[DXC] Successfully loaded "dxcompiler.dll"
[DEBUG Client 11732] [RENDER] RestartSwapChain

or
Spoiler
[DEBUG Client 14784] InstanceClientSetSelfPartyInvitationSecurityCode = 0

and also
Spoiler
[INFO Client 5304] Async connecting to...

Still don't know what to make of this...
Why is this post no longer on the front page? Should be stickied at this point.
I have found a way for me to reliably reproduce (and avoid) my own crashes:

Other apps (Discord, Firefox, etc) loading seems to be the culprit. I can play PoE2 for hours with no issues if it's the only thing I'm playing, but the second I open Twitch or try to google something, my PC blacks out. It's almost 100% reliable.
