Hard crashing PC locks up

So some people on windows 10 are also crashing? Damn. I guess i wont bother switching off of windows 11 then. We are truly stuck waiting for a patch addressing this issue
My Understanding of the Issue So Far:
The CPU spikes to 100% during intense loading situations like loading screens, particularly when loading into cities or areas with more complex assets. This seems to indicate the issue occurs when there is more data to process.

Several potential solutions have been attempted without success (some people said they helped, but many disagree):

-CPU capping: People tried limiting their CPU usage, but the problem persisted.

-Driver rollback: Rolling back Windows and GPU drivers also didn’t resolve the issue.

-Upscaling methods: Various upscaling techniques were tested but proved ineffective.

-Graphics APIs: Switching between DirectX 11, DirectX 12, and Vulkan didn’t solve the issue for everyone. Some say it helped.

-Multithreading: Disabling multithreading seems to prevent a complete freeze, although it doesn’t eliminate the problem entirely.

The primary symptom is a full system freeze during these spikes, rendering the PC unresponsive, including the task manager, and necessitating a hard reset.

That’s what I’ve gathered so far.

Edit: It seems to affect only specific AMD CPUs.
Edit2: People with Intel processors seem to be affected too, maybe more rarely.

Can confirm same issue.

happening while loading to a new zone *so far 4 times in a row going to the caravan act 2*.

It only started when i updated to windows 11 24h2 from 23h2. In 23h2 no issues, the updated came in last night. today crashed 6 times so far two in act 1 4 in act 2.

Ryen 5 3600x
Gforce 1660 super

** update

tried setting cpu to -5% as suggested crashed right away townportal to caravan.

It does help to remove some cores to process so my whole machine does not lock up but it's very very frustrating haveing the game lock up.

prob format back to 23h2 and wait for a patch .

ETA ggg ?

I have this exact issue and I have a an i7 8700k. I don't believe it's an AMD specific issue. Also looking through this thread a I see a ton of folks also reporting Intel Processors with this hard freeze loading screen.
AMD Ryzen 9800X3D user here. I have exactly this freezing problem. Is there any official statement from the developers when they will fix the problem please ?
Crashing on RTX3070, 9800x3d, 16x2GB RAM, Windows 11 24H2. Seems to occur only on loading screen. Tried CPU capping and disabling multithreading but didn't work for both. Crashing occurs on DX12 and Vulkan. No crash so far on DX11.

It's already addressed in the Known Issues thread at the stickied post in the top, all we gotta do now is wait. They are aware.

In other news, I disabled integrated graphics in my BIOS and haven't run into a crash after 2 hours. Gonna continue to test, wish me luck.
Ok.Thank you for info.

Having this problem as well in both games, though it was much less frequent in PoE 1. Always happens on a loading screen, always requires a hard reset to fix.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, NVidia RTX 2060, Windows 11 24H2, latest drivers.

I'll give BES a shot to see if I can at least avoid the hard reset.

Quoting myself as an update: I had BES capping PoE2 at 95% CPU all day yesterday and only had a single hard lockup during all that time, whereas on launch day it had locked up several times. Did capping the CPU help or was it coincidence? Not sure yet, will continue testing.

I was crashing a ton on day 1, and had this happening in PoE1 before PoE2 came out as well. I saw someone who got results in PoE1 by changing CPU power settings to min 98% max 99% which had noticeable improvements. Setting affinity to -2 cores in task manager on PoE2 on top of that has led to me crashing maybe once in the last 24 hours.

On W11 24H2, 4080S latest drivers, 9800X3D

Just updating on this, I played for about 16 hours yesterday and only froze once, so while not a complete fix it has most certainly been a lot better for me.
Oh wow. Good think I already uninstalled
