Hard crashing PC locks up

Okay this issue has to be fixed, like yesterday.

Crashed once, restarted, opened the game, crashed on Log in screen, reloaded, logged in, crashed on loading into the game.

Legit, GGG I don't know where your priorities are, but for fuck sakes, push the balancing and bug fixes, and focus your damn attention on this major issue. This should have been handled BEFORE ANY balancing patch whatsoever. Technical issues far outweigh that of ridiculous and bullshit balancing.

Enough is enough dude.
putting the game in fullscreen with process lasso going seems to have "fixed" things. i was unaware windows did that with windowed mode games/apps.

No games has ever done this as consistently, severely, and reproducibly as POE2 does in my 15 years of gaming. To experience this at day 1 and persistently at days 2 and 3 and finally stopped trying at day 4; SEEING this issue semi-addressed while other bugs and balances are being addressed feels very sus.

Imagine saying that people should feel okay stress testing their pc for nothing. Completely unhinged

Nobody said that. My entire point was about that high CPU load is only a factor contributing to the system collapse, but not the actual reason of the crash.

Basically if you have proper components, stress test is not something special, In other words, only data sheets define what is "GOOD" and "BAD". Not emotions from users like "LOOK MY CPU IS 75*C it's meltin'!!! STUPIED GAAME EVA AAGRHH"

Also, for the instance I found some similar cases in the past:

Shader compilation freezes the system #218
Shader Compiling freezes Unreal Engine
My PC freezes while gaming and the screen goes black. Why's that?
When I start a game in steam the entire computer freezes
Can't even play it now getting hard crashes anytime I try to change areas. A lot of lag as well. Was working fine yesterday few hours ago but past hour has been unplayable

Having the same problem. Mostly during load screens when i enter new zones or click the button to open world map. Wouldn´t be so bad if it just crashes the game but my entire PC locks up so I have to do a hard reset by pressing power button. Got a brand new laptop to play this game so it's a fresh install. Playing on steam version.

Specs: Brand new Lenovo LOQ 15 with a ryzen 7 8845HS, RTX 4060, Windows 11 PRO, update 24H2(version 26100.2605), one stick of 16 gb DDR5 ram.
Monitor setup: Using laptops integrated monitor and an external monitor, both at 2560x1440

Game settings:
Running in Windowed fullscreen on my 2nd monitor.
Vsync: Adaptive
Window resoultion: 2560x1440
NVIDIA DLSS max image quality set to quality.
8x anisotropic filtering
Shadow+ globial immunation
Shadow+ gi quality: Low
Sun shadow quality: Low
Number of lights: High
Water detail level: High
Nvidia reflex: ON
Background FPS cap 30
Foreground FPS cap: 144
Triple buffering: on
Dynamic culling: off
Engine multithreading: ON

Have not tried any of the fixes proposed in this forum thread yet. Just wanted to give some info so GGG can fix this.

After disabling core 0 and core 1 for pathofexilestream.exe with core affinity in task manager whenever i launch the game I've had 0 crashes in about 6 hours of gameplay so far so that's the workaround that worked for me.

Update: Unfortunately now it is back to crashing whenever i try to load in on that character. He seems to be stuck in deshar. At least the entire PC doesn't freeze any more with core 0 and 1 disabled, I just crash to desktop so that's progress I guess.
Disable SMT in BiOS if you have an AMD board. Haven’t seen a crash in 2-3 hours with this disabled. It’s a threading option. Load times have actually increased with this off.

What are you trying to get at?

That all the people posting in this thread have faulty hardware?

You are the definition of PEDANTIC. the fact that you keep divorcing the idea of CPU usage at 100% to its correlation with hardware/software damage is problematic for the purpose of these threads.

My words, i have basically brand new PC, only thing that is not new is GPU (1yr old RTX 4070) and PSU which is several years old, but imho irrelevant right now.

This is issue is hapening for me ONLY on PoE2 loadings, compared to for example Rust, which is much more performance heavy in my opinion, i have never had any issue there.
