Hard crashing PC locks up

Here’s how I fixed it, step by step:

Go to your computer and open Documents.

Open the My Games folder and then the Path of Exile 2 folder.

Find the file named poe2_production_Config. Right-click on it and choose Copy.

Right-click in the same folder and choose Paste. This makes a backup copy in case something goes wrong. If it doesn’t work, you can rename this copy to poe2_production_Config.

Now, for the original file:

Right-click the poe2_production_Config file again and choose Edit.

Look for a area that says [LOGIN] and change gateway_auto_select=true to gateway_auto_select=false.

Then, find [Display] and change renderer_type=DirectX12 to renderer_type=Vulkan.

Don’t forget to click Save to keep your changes!

Nahhh… doesn’t work. Yesterday games was crushing on directx and it worked fine on Vulkan. Today is vice versa. It is still very random.

This solution completely resolved the issue for me. After over three hours, there were no crashes.

I also tested the following configurations:

Intel/3080Ti/Windows 10 22H2/Latest Drivers: 100% working, no issues.
Intel/3080/Windows 11 24H2/Latest Drivers: Random crashes, but not during cogs - startup.
Intel/3070/Windows 11/Latest Drivers 24H2: 100% working with DirectX 12.
Intel/3080Ti/Windows 11 24H2/Latest Drivers: Crashing on both DirectX 12 and 11.

Holy shit, did you really swap 3 GPU?
Same issue. Upon loading into a new area, occasionally the PC completely locks up and I have to manually restart it on the case.

Seems like this is indeed Windows 24H2 issue, you can see also other games are affected ... DAMN IT

The question is. Do I want to do clean installation windows or not ... I am past rollback to previous Windows update window.

Reporting back.

I had like 10 complete PC freezes in past 12 hours so what I now tried to do is:

Reducing the CPU cores assigned to Path of Exile (PoE) in Task Manager—cutting them by half or so stopped the PC from completely freezing, and now only the game crashes to freeze instead and all I have to do is force close it and then relaunch.

This means the issue is 100% CPU related.

You can see how my CORE utilization looked like when the game frozen in loading screen. https://ibb.co/chSCPWJ

This seems to help but I still crashes sadly :/
WIt's weird this issue is not listed in the "Known issues" post yet
