Why can't people afford $30 for EA and instead beg?

Judgemental people are trash.

They don't work but also don't want to fomo. PoE 2 is super duper hyped game, maybe like the most hyped game for years, they rather beg for a chance instead of fomo. That easy.

Person who work can easily buy this game, don't come at me with bs reasons. I live in one of the worst countries economic-wise. I was gonna buy the cheapest pack for 30$ regardless, it's expensive but i make money, i rather don't buy a lot of games and buy poe only. But they done regional pricing and I bought the second pack for 27$. I paid the same amount anyways.

Those people who beg could pay for the game but they don't work so they can't. Why they don't work? Most of them don't work because they don't like it or something i don't know.

I situations like this, I'd be more worried about eating and getting my needs met instead of a video game. I understand the OP. If you're asking for 30$ to play a game then most likely not everything else is so okay that you should be worrying about playing a FTP game early. I've been in a situation where I've had to pawn many items just to afford rent and enough food to eat every other day, not once during that time did I consider spending money in a game. You are correct, yet u didnt want to try to beg for a free key assuming u had everything else covered? Now I'm not saying to go to everyone's PM and asking them for a key, just throw it out there in the world and see what happens? I think that's aight. I asked/replied on giveaway thread about 8 or so times before I lucked out and someone gave me one.

Also... the keys come with in-game currency and cosmetics, most people that had them had them as extras, its not comparable to money or $30 price forgetting the 300 points that came with it, I would say.

And who knows, maybe playing PoE 2 at launch boost your energy so much that the next month or so u bear eating dirt if it comes down to it. Some broke people do this even in competitive play with prize money.

Could you confirm the difference between asking and begging in this context? I am fortunate enough to be able to purchase the game for myself but during my college days or even right after graduating the struggle was real. I remember throwing my name into the proverbial hat for free key giveaways like this too. But I didn't quite consider it begging.

i had an invite in my email/messages without buying the new packs so i'm good but i get it...

the game was always said to be free to play so ppl arent in the mindset to pay to play ;)

some will buy the 30$ pack for it, some will wait for release, some will ask on forums, it is what it is.

I hate the begging too , it actually disgusts me.

If you cant afford 30$ then you shouldn't get to play , its as simple as that .

Because some people, possibly influenced by conditions like compulsive spending or impulsivity tied to certain mental health disorders, choose to spend $30 a day on fast food, diabetes-inducing shakes, heart-attack fries, and cavity-causing snacks. They prioritize instant gratification or fitting in with trends over pursuing what they truly want—like buying a game they claim they can’t afford.

I refuse to give keys or anything to anyone who begs. Begging shows a lack of determination and effort to achieve what they desire on their own.

It's not as easy to pick up extra work in some places. There's also the consideration that people can't just work all the time, and need some way to relax and unwind. I don't know what the situation is for people asking for keys. There are probably some that could afford a key. There are probably a lot more that can't.

From another perspective, if there weren't as many people playing PoE, then there wouldn't a decent wiki, trade tools, build guides, path of building and the third party help sites (poe trade, chromatic calculator) etc.

I'm married , 1 kid and live in Africa... and I could buy a key. How on earth do you have gaming PC's if you can't afford $30 for EA? I wouldn't be surprised if most of the beggars are trying to get free keys and then flip them at half price to others. Anyways just wait till full release and then play for free. It's your "I want it now" attitude that probably got you into the financial messes you are in. I ain't feeding that symptom.

My hypothesis is that most people begging for a key are under 18 years old, unemployed, and lack parental finances. The darker hypothesis is that they're just cheap-skates exploiting charitable individuals.

I want to add that people saying the price is too high in their country aren't actually providing a good excuse for begging. For example, yes, I would LOVE to own a Ferrari sports car. Who wouldn't? But I'm not going and asking millionaires to give me their Ferrari just because I really want to drive it.

In general, begging is simply shameful. In the USA, it's a social norm not to beg publicly unless you're desperately in need. This sort of behavior is deplorable in our country. Giveaways are a different story. See, there, no one is begging. It's nuanced, but that's how it works.

well game will be free, but devs selling supporter packs so people who can afford, support the game that means no one is obliged to pay to play and if you are paying +$160 you already supported enough for several people that why is there are extra keys in those packs and those keys meant to be given away now most of the people have extra keys that is sitting idle in their account, and they don't know what to do with it so if someone ask them they might give it away, now someone have courage to ask for key knowing people like you might shame them then I think they earned it and I don't think this is begging because they just want to play the game, asking for money or other sellable items on the other hand is shameful begging because they might use that money for stuff like drug which is bad even for the beggar

I mostly don't judge, but I think you're mad because you had to pay $30(or $480 lifetime) for access while someone might get access for free if they ask nicely, and you needed to express your outrage which is ok let it out, judging by that you put a lot of effort to make a topic to shame people who asked for spare key
