So if its not possible to preload via steam and ggg knows about it, why does ggg not work around that issue and come up with a solution, because that should definately be possible.
There is a very simple solution: use the standalone client.
Expecting GGG to fight Steam over this is silly. If Valve doesn't want to provide content preloading (edit: for poe2) on Steam, that's their prerogative. If you are unhappy with that, complain to Valve. Or use the solution over which GGG actually has complete control, and that can be preloaded.
that is not a solution

Many of you may not understand Steam's preload policy regarding early access. Instead of complaining, perhaps you should do some research to see if what is happening aligns with their policy. Because it is.
We'll likely get a preload 3 hour-ish before release like every single league in poe1. Unless Steam makes an exception for GGG.

https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/earlyaccess
"Early Access titles must deliver a playable game or usable software to the customer at the time of purchase, while pre-purchase games are delivered at a future date. Read more about Pre-Purchasing on Steam."
It is true, cope more
There is nothing here preventing preload...
In fact, if you even read the article linked there is absolutely nothing in it explaining that it is not possible for Early Access to offer preload
It doesn't even mention preload once
Read this part again: "EARLY ACCESS TITLES *must* deliver a playable game or usable software to the customer AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE."
this is a prepurchase though
how dense are you?
none of what you are saying proves you cannot preload an EA game
In fact, there already have been preloads of early access games already!
Throne and Liberty being the most recent

Because you can't play the game on steam with standalone files, that's why. Just thinking you're smarter than anyone else doesn't actually make you smart.
You can definitley add any game(or not game) you want to steam to have the in-game overlay and such. and most of the time you CAN copy a games files into the install directory to "install" a game that was downloaded via a stand alone launcher. Most that would change is it will update the .exe's as required.
just adding a non steam game to steam library is not the same as having the steam version from that game. And it's not that easy to just download via standalone if you purchased it on steam because you dont have any login for the standalone client. Why you talking about stuff you dont even know. You have to message ggg so they can transfer your account from steam to standalone which can take a few days at worst. So What are we talking about here?
