The community is taking the delay really well. Surprisingly well.
" Sure, you could treat it as deliberate and malicious falsehoods, a calculatewd snub to the True Veterans who fueled the company's success and any of the half-dozen varieties of selling-out people are accusing them of. Oooooooooooooor...............you could treat it like what it almost certainly actually is - an unfortunate sequence of honest mistakes and poor luck that resulted in PoE2 slipping into the red zone and requiring far more resources than anyone at the company had any reason to suspect it would, and Grinding Gear doing what it has to in order to meet its own goals and deadlines and stay true to itself. All while doing the best they can in a situation that's never come up for them before and almost certainly never will again. Did you guys not see that delay video with Jonathan? That man is tired. That man has been spending a whole lot of long nights trying to salvage as much of the company's end-of-year plans as he possibly can, and knowing 'The Community' is going to rake him and his people over the coals for it. Frankly I'm surprised people are as upset as they are. Isn't the whole deal with most of the PoE1 diehards the idea that everything new is bad forever? That they hate everything PoE2 is doing, they hate the idea of changing anything, and all they really want is to play the same boomer zoomer wham-bam lootsplosion game they've always had forever, without anything ever changing? Well hey - now you get an entire new league without any changes other than Increased Loot. The league's already solved, but you get a fresh economy to play in regardless. Is that not The Perfect Ideal?
" Doing the best you can doesn’t mean you get to break your commitments/promises you’ve made to the community and it be something just seen as acceptable. There are a lot of ways this could have been handled to stay true to the commitments they made You’re making a lot of generalizations and assumptions about a whole lot that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand. |

The delay on POE2 is ok, in fact I wouldn't even care if they would cancel it. The thing I care about is POE1 and I really fear that POE2 will affect POE1 in a bad way more and more!

" Fear not, fellow Exile! I suspect that the delay on 3.26 is just to make sure that there is plenty of support behind its launch, something that they can't guarantee if they're also all-hands-on-deck for the PoE2 launch. The problems they're having are all database migration issues, not game systems or content issues, so I expect that they'll have something pretty special ready for 3.26's launch in January. They know they'll need it. Remember, remember the 6th of December... Last edited by Waitubold on Nov 1, 2024, 4:14:00 PM

" Well, exactly THIS is my fear! I fear that they will need more and more ppl working on POE2 and POE1 will get the finger! German saying: Schönheit und Funktionalität in Sekundenschnelle zu ruinieren, ist dem wahren Dilettanten keine Herausforderung!

" Then quit, I guess. Or keep playing PoE1 with the assumption it'll be Standard Forever. Everyone who hates PoE2 seems to be invincibly convinced that Grinding Gear Games is actively, maliciously, and with fell intent aforethought lying to the playerbase with a deliberate will to deceive. No amount of logic or reason can convince them that there is no reason for GGG to lie about this. They have no reason to build up the idea that they fully intend to continue supporting both games into the future if they do not, in fact, so intend. No, the Evil Chinaland Conspiracy is not a good reason. They are not trying to defraud you. They are not trying to trick you. They are not trying to steal from you. They're just trying to finish making their new game. And making a game is always far more labor intensive than updating or maintaining one. Really. Just...chill, hm?
" I disagree. There are players who prefer PoE 1 (at this point) for various reasons. It doesn't mean they hate anything about PoE 2. From the brief time I had playing PoE 2.0 at PAX West, I liked just about everything. The only thing I didn't care for was the bosses regenerating to full life if your character died. I'm suspicious PoE 2.0 will be more reliant on gimmick play (balance a pickle on your nose, jump through the flaming hoop and use a double corrupted skill gem in a foiled helmet to beat the boss kind of gimmicks) and have less really viable choices for characters. I enjoy the R of the ARPG in PoE. If PoE 2.0 can restore more of that to the game, and not nerf our characters every new patch, then I may enjoy it more than PoE 1. I don't expect GGG to cater to me, but they should remember there's a large portion of players that don't look forward to Brand New Meta or be mediocre. Everybody loves a good Princess Bride meme. But seriously. The rampant paranoia is tiresome and pointless, if far more typical than the surprisingly measured and reasonable response to the PoE2 delay.
Either you can understand and accept that Shit Happens during game development - especially the final home stretch scramble - and they're doing the best they can. Or you figure Chris, Jonathan, Mark and the rest are all actually secret vampire reptile people who exist solely to make your specific personal life worse out of some alien need to suck the joy from your marrow or some other such outlandish, utterly ludicrous nonsense. The level of vitriolic hatred this community has for this company really shouldn't surprise me at this point. But I guess the actually really good reaction to the PoE2 delay lulled me into a false sense of decency. Shame on me I guess. Last edited by 1453R on Nov 1, 2024, 10:16:39 PM

" Dude, are you ok? I never said that I hate POE2 and why would I? All I ever said is that it looks to slow for my taste so far and I will stick to POE1 most likely. And where have I ever said things like they are "trying to trick me" or "trying to steal from me"? Your level of agression is simply off the charts! So let me use your words: Really. Just...chill, hm? ^^ German saying: Schönheit und Funktionalität in Sekundenschnelle zu ruinieren, ist dem wahren Dilettanten keine Herausforderung!
