Build diversity is still terrible

without nimis make attack at ground lightning bolts go out hit enemy once and strikes additional target will hit enemy once - total 2 hits
with nimis 2 hits from prev example + 2 sets of lightnings returning - total 4 hits
its consistent

and zenith - watched some for fun zizaran event prior to gauntlet, this skill was used by both ben and fubgum if i remember correctly, it was a bossing swap in in place of ls, it went 50 million damage on budget of 10div + 10div watchers eye. they were smashing uber bosses with it in race who can do more per 30 minutes. ben probably did like 10.
absolutely busted skill.

i am happy these skills exist and work how they work but i am not happy the fucking rest gets the anal balancing instead of being straight up fun too

You can only hit with one projectile outgoing and one returning. It's the same for all skills that shoot out multiple projectiles per attack, unless stated otherwise on the skill you can only hit a given target with 1 projectile, no matter how many you are shooting. The same applies to the returning projectiles. Feel free to google if you don't believe me.

50 mio dps on 20 divine budget isn't even all that special nowadays. My chieftain had around 20 mio with cons path on that budget and my fb slayer also has 20 mio with roughly that budget (just remove the progenesis). Sure it's still more than twice the damage but far from 20 times and both cons path and fb are about as off meta as it gets.

I dont believe you. LS ground hit generates lightning that hits enemy and hits on return. Clone hits with melee, doesnt hit with lightning as its spawned behind enemy, but hits with return. 1 melee hit + 3 ranged hits. Ben also confirms this in the same event stream.

Not 20 divine budget. 10 divine gear and 10 divine watchers eye specifically. With added requirement that they had to buy everything within 30 minutes.

The 50 mill I said was off the top of my head, I have no clue how much dps it was really because even guys on stream had difficulty working it out.

What I know for sure is that it chunked uber bosses in under 1 second upon spawn, even through damage reduction they are supposed to have.

Whatever your characters are able to do, slotting in "of zenith" will do multiples more simply due to mechanics advantage.

"50 mio dps on 20 divine budget isn't even all that special nowadays." - Statements as such make me doubt you know what you are talking about. Especially when you cite your own examples of going 20mill for 20div. You are trying to pass it off as if a 150% increase in damage is trivial when in fact the costs go up exponentially.

That's why i said ask google. But oh well, if you don't want to believe me then don't, no skin off my back.

10 divine gear + 10 divine watchers eye is 20 divines in my book. Buying everything in 30 minutes isn't even a condition unless you go into the competition with no idea what to buy.

So you just threw a number out there without any basis. Nice.

I am not questioning the fact that some skills do more damage than others, usually due to mechanical advantages aka shotgunning. I am questioning those other random numbers you threw around of "5-20 times". 2 or 3 times? Yeah sure, maybe even 4 or 5 in extreme cases. I won't deny that much. But 20? Get real.

Again if you wanna doubt me to stick to your believes go ahead. I didn't really expect to convince you anyway seeing how just a few weeks ago you were going "firestorm of pelting can't even get enough damage for ubers" before some other guy fixed your build with minor adjustments and multiplied it's dps by like 5? And then 1 or 2 weeks later you made the same argument again, just this time with fireball. You clearly want to stick to your believes no matter what.

Just one thing though, i can actually do t17 and ubers on my off meta builds. You can't. Maybe ask yourself why that is.

Ask google is shit advice when it comes to POE. I choose to trust ben over google and you. And even google produced same answer in form of reddit post. So idk, maybe you google instead.

And what MY build got to do with what ben and friends demonstrated to be the case with ls and ms of zenith? Desperate for some sort of an out?

You mean like this one?

https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/1flh1ko/lightning_strike_damage_with_nimis_question/

or maybe this one?

https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1f147oc/does_lightning_strike_triplehit/

I actually did check before posting that, who would have thought.

I don't need an out here. I am just pointing out the obvious. I can't be that clueless if i can do those things. But then again, maybe i just always end up being lucky everytime i make a build? Who knows.

Anyway, let's just agree to disagree here. It's just going to end in flames again at this rate.

/edit did some further research: Wiki and GGG Q&A say the same thing, though it's not specifically regarding LS.

Guess it's really a matter of who to believe at this point.

Why are Lightning Strike and Frost Nova even brought up when Hexblast exists?

Because Hexblast is a joke, if they fix it on proxies it'll go straight into being relatively unused

Lets be real here everyone would choose to have a 1s cast time on their spell and 3x the damage if you could just ignore the 1s part lol

But also I agree with you hexblast is a big problem that should have been fixed before it was even launched, I personally loved the old doom mechanics + hexblast and think the simplified cheese version is just garbage in comparison.

All these skills people are complaining about here are the standard over performers that have always existed though, if you take any skill based around the standard multipliers presented by PoE but it has extra scalers then its just an instant overperformer.

So anytime a straight 400% effectiveness melee skill is viable, a 350% with any kind of shenanigans is going to massively outperform it.

Really though that is quite flavourful in its own way and the only thing I personally care about is is the 400% skill viable, if players want to all play the same shite every league that is their loss.
I think build diversity is fine. For me, if I want to play something else, I play something else. Sounds diverse enough to me!

Can't believe this troll post is still alive, but since it is.

1. The fact that POE has so many (endless?) build options makes it common sense that some will be drastically more powerful than others.

2. It's not an issue that the majority of the players use a small pool of builds, especially when what builds those are change from league to league (melee buff anyone?)

3. There is nothing stopping you from playing a non-meta build, but don't expect it to be as powerful or as easy to gear as a meta build. There is a reason builds go meta in a league. (your FOMO is a mental/personal issue, not GGG's)
