Why gate the new gems behind lab?

That's the most inefficient Heist run and I love doing that with every occasion.
lulz anybody was seriously expecting GGG to consider lab as optional content ?

If you don't want to run the lab, feel free to trade for the gems, also the merciless lab should guaranty you to find what you need so ... this thread feels like bitching for the sake of bitching, or just for the sake of complaining about lab.

Having those gems accessible from lab feels AMAZING, as an SSF players I can easily get them, and I can get some extra quality on my gems without it being too difficult, if I want too.

Labs better than Heist, at least to me. Good layouts are super quick to run.

i knew you had a mageblood even before i checked your profile. try running lab without one and report back how fast uber lab is

Damn so now we need Mageblood to finish uber lab.
Player skill is getting worse and worse each league.

That one made me laugh !
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

There is a lot more than several
....
I just don't understand why they don't just give us the divine font in the hideout, being unlocked after you complete the eternal lab one time. You pay the price of 1 offering to get two uses of the divine font. The tradeoff of not having to run lab is you get no drops and no treasure keys.

Literally the easiest thing in the world to implement. If people prefer this over running lab then that is the most telling thing in the world that people don't want to be forced to run this shit 1000 times. And no, "Trade it" is not an excuse for SSF players.

Just because some of us are SSF doesn't mean you can use that insanely outdated excuse "well you play SSF so you have to eat shit if you want things". People play SSF for the challenge, the ability to muster a character to potentially take on ubers and other very difficult content. It's not a testament to us loving tediousness and garbage mechanics. This is why ruthless is not nearly as popular as regular SSF.
Because they dont want to retire lab.

And while we're at it, they should unlock all craft enchants when you get the bench, and also when you kill Blackstar, you should get all four voidstones for the price of a chaos. And items should drop fully linked!

This is the idea of removing the game from the game, it's a loot hunt, hunting the loot IS the game.
I agree with person aboce, but honestly I think they should remove ascendencies from lab long time ago and remake lab as another uber encounter. Make Izaro one of Pinacle/Uber bosses, remove lab, leave just boss arena with Izaro.

To make lab more interesting and rewarding again outside of Lab services.

Well, guess what, it doesn't. Lab runners are probably making a shit ton of currency because it's just not enough incentive to go through that thing just for a chance to get what you want, especially because they also force you to run Eternal for better stuff.
Thats PoE in a nutshell. Do something most people dont want to do and you will make a lot of money. Lab, Heist, Flipping, just few example of things that are profitable mainly because its not fun (for big part of playerbase)

Well, based on that logic why don't we move all gems to the Lab with the exception of your starting skill on the beach? Wouldn't that make the game even more fun?

The biggest issue I see is that some people seem to perceive that the Transfigured Gems are on par with the removed Alternate gems from Heist and are super-powerful and should therefore be gated, but that's not the case at all. The gems in most cases are variations to the base gem but simply do things in a different way. Many are worse than the base gem, some are legitimately useful, and a couple pretty powerful.

There's really no genuine reason to be locking them away except for GG's flawed approach to design where at every opportunity they continue to drive trade as the must do activity (with one of the worst trade systems) along with their sunk cost pushing of poor content.
