Why gate the new gems behind lab?
Solution is easy - don't play SSF and trade for the things you want. Its so much better now having to buy a gem instead of a specific helmet
PS: I hate lab and I won't do it more than 4 times for every character. Last edited by Johny_Snow on Nov 30, 2023, 5:38:41 PM

You answered your own question. The new gems are gated behind lab because people hate it.
8 mod maps are the new alch and go.

I like how special quality gems being in lab is somehow infinitely worse than them being in Heist, especially considering you can now target the gem you actually want while you couldn't do that in Heist at all.
Just trade for it if you hate lab that much. Last edited by Xyel on Nov 30, 2023, 5:46:43 PM

It's already been said you could literally spam normal lab to farm it if you want. Uber lab will get 2 chances minimum. You don't need to worry about a specific helmet or changing your helmet afterwards if you want a new build. It's eons easier to farm something for yourself. Lab is easier to setup then heist. Doesn't require blueprints or markers.
This is literally all good things. I don't believe this will be super pricey. They might be priced higher with quality on it since the quality recipe no longer works. |

" Not sure where people got this idea from, but it's not correct. You can get the gems in normal lab, though you are probably unlikely to get some of the fancy more rewarding options like the one to change a support gem into an exceptional one outside the higher labs. | |
I finally embraced Heist and now I have to do the worst thing in the game for my gems? Ouchies.

" Hope you are right. Here are the patch notes. "The Divine Font at the end of the Eternal Labyrinth is now a gem crafting device that can modify your skill and support gems by turning them into Transfigured Gems, add Quality or Experience to Gems, or sacrifice a Gem for one or more Treasure Keys to open Izaro's Chests." " In the Q & A part of the livestream, they mentioned they wanted players to start having access to them early, starting from the first lab, rather than being more of a late game thing. |

While enchants will be missed, paying labrunner and waiting days to get desired enchant wont(neither will running 100s of them to do it yourself).
Buying a gem (if you dont want to run lab) will be much more qol. Even if you play SSF I believe getting the gem you want will be MUCH easier than getting a specific enchant. Last edited by Rikku on Nov 30, 2023, 8:06:21 PM
