No hardcore events? What?

Do the events not let you choose HC? I didn't bother to read about them. Or are you looking for HC only events? If the latter, those events are very limiting to participants much like Ruthless.

Just curious what you mean.

Yes sir there's no HC events (you can't choose HC mode)
They added SSF though, looks like because of posts like these and Zizaran's "wtf there's no HC, makes no sense)

That is surprising. Easy to fix too.
It was absurd right from the start because SC players don't play HC and know nothing about the mode and their opinion is based on their streamer's opinion. HC players are able compare both modes because they play(-ed) both SC and HC. And a lot of players succeed playing HC, doing challenges, farming bosses, clearing juiced maps, etc.

The speculation is that they are doing an experiment with the 50% XP penalty on death. One possible reason I can see for trying to get HC players into this experiment is that they are considering to scrap HC mode (and SSF but they conceded that at least now for the events) in PoE2 and testing the waters for it. Kind of "one mode to make everybody (un)happy".
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
Well they certainly can't alpha test the 50% penalty in hc.

But it's hard to believe that some hc players still live in the delusion of having a much different gameplay. While in reality they play the same game in the same difficulty, just with the only catch of being limited to less build diversity hoho

Hc would be more appealing if the mode itself had gauntlet mods all the time to make the game actually harder. Sad to say but the alpha and beta ruthless was even more hardcore than the actual hardcore mode.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Yeah, that seems like it would miss everyone. HC players would still consider life after death too easy, and *some* SC players would lose their shit. They already do over 10%.

It is different. Your character must not die. Even single time. On SC your caharcter is immortal.

When you say "no one cares about HC" you come to the wrong thread my friend, because this thread is literal proof that you are incorrect.

I get that you played "HC when it was cool" but try not sounding like a boomer grandparent whose family contemplates not inviting for christmas again

This thread is proof less than 0.00001% of the player base cares about Hardcore. Good job enlightening me. The truth is even if you are able to get 90+ in HC, it is actually not even an achievement at all. The only real achievements in HC is beating Uber Pinnacle bosses, maybe deep delve competition, or some league specific content where you die, and still get kicked out of hardcore.

Its not any ones fault, but it is the case. As PoE has progressed, many things that would be achievements have become too easily achievable, and thus no longer large achievements that wouldn't be considered atypical for the average player. At least fighting Uber bosses, or Uber Uber bosses is something not a lot of people have even done yet, simply because you don't have too. So much things have become optional, on top of GGG removing mechanics that added a ton of optional difficulty, like Delerium and Beyond stacking, and the fact that Beyond used to add a metric fck ton of mobs to your map. Too many of the same builds are consistently strong, league after league, year after year. Log out macro's, the reduced time you stay in game when you use one, has essentially killed Hardcore, on top of consistently released unbalanced league mechanics with over tuned enemies, and bugs. Any one playing hardcore just to die to something out of your control is ridiculous.

When GGG fixes some of the issues I just mentioned, a lot of people might go back to playing Hardcore. As it is today however, I don't see things changing, and I expect PoE 2 to be even more casual than PoE 1.

That's some serious hubris there to assume that SC players don't know anything about the mode. There's nothing to know except death is permanent, period. There's nothing else special about it. There's no extra mods, no harder boss fights, all that happens is that one death and you start a new character.
Any SC that doesn't know what it is will learn the first time they die. And I'll wager by now most gamers who try POE know what HC is and avoid it to begin with, hence why HC is a nice game mode.

You can wax poetic about how you need certain defenses, builds, blah blah blah but at the end of the day all that matters is that permadeath is enabled, and you need to learn and build around that, which a SC can do if they can stomach playing HC and deal with permadeath.

Still doesn't change much about the difficulty overall. Some might feel more pressured about playing certain content but the difficulty level is just the same for every mode.
Like hell there are probably more than enough sc players with 0 deaths cause they play hc friendly builds.
Besides that a hc character is also pretty much immortal if you know the game good enough and play well enough. Logout macros make you pretty much immortal as well unless you are too greedy and fuck up heavily without a chance to click your macro.

Hc was different during the days without logout macros and while they had their own special league mechanics.
It was even better by the time we had less of problems to build a proper defense on whatever build without losing too much of damage to become a zdps. The current system is just a checklist for hc, and most builds simply don't even fulfill most requirements at all, hence you see players on the same build each league. It's mostly boneshatter, cold dot, srs, RF or ea. People are so turbo sweaty in hc that they don't or rarely play anything else.
The split with hc and ssfhc also never helped the hc community much because the split only hurt the economy even further. We all can't help it but unfortunately the game is just balanced around a big and running economy. Not really helpful to lack items in hc to try out new stuff.

Also ggg made the game a lot easier for hc over the time with the introduction of more player power in multiple ways. Not to mention all the heavily hc friendly stuff like no death penalties in sanctum or tota.

Look, a person simply created a post asking why there are no HC events, it did not affect SC players in any way, but some persons could not pass by, the first posts were immediately provocative and offensive, imposing their opinion and speaking for others:
"
No one cares about HC. Playing hardcore does not offer any better of a game experience, and its an accomplishment with no meaning. What is the point in making a Hardcore race that the same 5 people will compete in to win.

"
HC is a waste of time die to some random bullshit and back to campaign + lose equipped items to standard who has time/patience for that crap?

And then they talk about the egos of HC players and what bad people they are. Thats all you need to know.

Or statements like this:
"
But its hard to believe that some hc players still live in the delusion of having a much different gameplay. While in reality they play the same game in the same difficulty, just with the only catch of being limited to less build diversity hoho

Saying that HC and SС are games on the same difficulty and the only difference is less variety of builds... and saying that someone is living in a delusion.

Again, if you die in the SC, you lose 10% exp and thats it. If you die on HC you lose from several days to several weeks of progress. This is a fundamental difference. I dont understand how you can seriously say that SC and HC are the same thing, thats what it means to “still live in the delusion”.

With such rhetoric, I am more than sure that if there were gauntlet mods on HC, then SC players would find something to complain about. For example: “we cover all the content with a bunch of different builds with 50kk damage, and you only kill pinnacles in your gauntlet” or "those who killed Ubers are only 0.0000000001% of the players, but the rest..." although wait...
