In-game trading system?!!!!
" Warframes economy is based on premium currency you buy with RL money, its self regulated that way. Also warframe is game about collecting stuff, not beating stuff. Two vastly different games, with different goals and different problems. BTW Warframe has its own poe.trade (warframe.market) and people like it that way. Nobody cries about AH there. " If you can't find "anything for [Warframe]" on Google, that sounds like an issue. Or was that not what you meant by "it"? Well, maybe we can assume by "it" you mean something related to the quoted post. Maybe an Auction House? Which Warframe doesn't have. Hmm.... Maybe it's instead about bots making currency value plummet...but with the trade limits, and low value of items a new account could farm in a first place, how long would it take a fresh account to churn out even just 100 plat?
" that's not true at all! Because certain things are difficult and are not possible WITHOUT a team! Veterans can do that, but they have almost everything. just like me! The big (actually HUGE) difference is that they almost always play in small teams (in public or I find a suitable group very quickly). I've been playing since the beginning and can hardly remember that I played solo for longer than 20 minutes. but here I can't even play with anyone because engine is so BAD that my fps drops hardcore! Not even with a team of two is possible because there are good builds with too many particles! but in warframe? God... I mostly play with pimped wisp there. So more than double health, attack speed and top cc for the ENTIRE TEAM. I have the best mods and kill everything very quickly. That would be possible here too! So a supporter in the team and all bosses are free kill!
" Okay. Games can have marketplace (M-P) (SaP > a) PoE is a game (S-M) (SiP > i) ----------------------------------------------------- PoE can have marketplace (S-P) (SiP > i) M-P S-M S-P Figure I (V) aaa eae aii (V) eio aai eao Terms rules 1. 3 terms (V) 2. M should be distributed at least in one premise (Games +) (V) 3. If a term is distributed in the conclusion, it must be distributed in the premises (PoE + PoE + marletplace - marletplace -) (V) Premise rules 1. At least one premise should be affirmative (V) 2. If premises are affirmative, conclusion should be affirmative (V) 3. If one premise is negative, conclusion should be negative (V) Job is done. The guy A says that PoE can have marketplace. And it can have marketplace. And it is also true (for me). Waiting for guy B. PS "Sky is blue" is not a proof, it is observation. From spider's point of view sky is not blue, it is grey. And what is "blue"? Sky is not "blue". Colour of the sky is quantium effect. |

" Better ask Tai_GGG. he/she/it has edited my posts too often and I don't know what I can write about without the police showing up at the door... I'm sure we understand INTUITIVELY what this is about, right? should be obvious...
" It's still a logical progression from "Other games have successful auction houses / economies", and while it might have implied it, the original statement wasn't saying that an AH was bad. It was questioning the assertions being made: What makes Trade a solved problem? What games are a solid example of the "solved Trade"? How do those games solve trade, and is it applicable here? While you don't answer these questions, you do a great job of taking the discussion a step further by exploring what trade means for PoE, and ARPGs in general. " A quick google search found me a trade site for Diablo 2: Resurrected that functions similarly to the forum trade sections here, except that it also has trade offerings expire. Keep in mind that this was basically what trade in PoE was until community efforts to streamline trade 'forced' the introduction of the public trade API. Last Epoch is preparing to add trade, but it seems that will come with a bevy of restrictions on trades--which is something PoE lacks. Restrictions that limit the power of trading. PoE's only trade restriction right now is....having to stop what you're doing to do the trade. As for dropping 99.9999% trash....is there any ARPG that doesn't approach those numbers as your gear gets better? (I would view drops you vendor/dismantle/disenchant/whatever as "trash" as well) " The fundamental principle of PoE is still "kill monsters to get items". The difference is that it is no longer "to get items to use or vendor", but "to get items to use, vendor, or trade to other players". The game still works in SSF, aside from things like not being able to crowd source your juicing strategy or skip boss farm by directly buying the drops. But the easier that trade becomes, the more the game will be focused on trade, because as you implied...trading for the items you want is easier and faster than killing monsters for the items you want. Games with "successful marketplaces" have to have factors that balance out the ease of trade. Restrictions on what you can trade, restrictions on how often you can trade, restrictions on retrading.... Actually, I have to take back what I said earlier, PoE has a second trade restriction: inventory size/how much you can trade at once. I'm not a trader but I feel like that had a limiting effect on the Chaos to Divine conversion rate a while back?
" Ah, 'that' then? A quick google search gives me 3 results in the top ten, so it wasn't obvious that was what you were talking about. As kuciol mentioned, Warframe has an in-game, tradable premium currency. There wouldn't be any need to go after specific items because platinum is a functional intermediary currency, and most things have a price cap anyways because they can be bought directly from DE with no potential issues other than regret.
" Right, right, when you can't prove an argument, move the goalpost and prove that instead. A tried and true tactic. PoE can have a marketplace. This is true. Undertale can also have a marketplace. I don't think a marketplace in Undertale could be construed as "successful" though, let alone "useful". But "PoE can have a marketplace" was not the original argument. Nobody would argue against that. Indeed, discussion about adding a marketplace is so contentious is because of the acknowledgement that a marketplace can be added. If a marketplace could not be added, there would be no point in arguing over whether a marketplace would be good or bad for the game. So congratulations, you have proved that the discussion in this thread isn't entirely pointless. You still haven't proved "Other games have successful marketplaces" is relevant here. The spider cannot say that the sky is not blue, because it does not have a baseline for what is blue and what is not. On the other hand, "What is blue?" is a good question, since this argument is going in a similar direction: "What is successful?" It's not just about what you can see on the surface, but about the underlying mechanics that cause us to view it as such. The success of the marketplace isn't just due to the workings of the marketplace itself, but also about how the game is designed around it. Would WoW's auction house still be 'successful' if nothing were soulbound, for example? What about if you didn't have to consume various miscellaneous items to level up crafting skills?
" As i said, different game, with different goals and different problems. Its designed with 4 men teams in mind. But the fact still stand, every single goal in that game, even progression system is based around getting stuff. You dont farm Rhino Prime because you need him, you want him. Once you have him you dont even have to like to use him and he can collect dust in orbiter.
" Last time I checked Warframe didnt have AH either and trading in there was even worse than in PoE. |
