On the surface, one would agree with you.

However, there is such a thing as too much bloat, too much in the game. And GG doesn't seem to mind that.

There are probably lot of people that get turned off by POE because of the sheer amount of systems in the game an they have no idea where to start. I myself have been playing off and on for 5-6 years and whenever I return, I feel overwhelmed to the point where I think to myself "Is it worth it? Do I want to spend hours upon hours for a week or two reading up and catching up JUST so I can experience the game in its fullest and enjoy?

Dont get me wrong, Diablo devs are falling into the same traps they always have: Knowing better than their players. But theres a middle ground to be had where complexity meets simplicity. D3 and POE are on opposite extremes. A game like Last Epoch meets somewhere in the middle.

This game has way too much bloat. Diablo doesnt have enough.
There is room for both approaches. It would be stupid to even try to compete with POE in this area, as they have years and years of building this out. To expect that a new game might be on the same level at the start is unreasonable.

And really, that's not the direction of Diablo anymore after Diablo 3. POE carried the D2 torch (somewhat), and D3 went more the World of Warcraft route.

Both are fine. I prefer POE.

POE 2 just needs to give us a true AAA engine with combat and animations as smooth as D3. If they do that then D4 has zero chance to be more than a flash in the pan.

If you attack 20 times per socond it doesnt matter if animation of attack looks good, you wont see it anyway.
Diablo 4 will be quite popular as per norm for Blizzard. Not everyone wants the complexity that POE brings. I was not a big fan of D3, but I like what I am seeing from D4. POE has been my go to because of the crazy amount of customizability, but that is not for everyone.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Not just because of that. Minecraft is very popular among kids and I doubt those are interested in mods (by kids I mean like 8 y.o avarage)

I didnt say ONLY kids play Minecraft. I know plenty of adults who play it as well. I said that is very popular among kids, compared to other games.

You are so right and so wrong.

Does D4 have a chance to compete with PoE's amount of content? No. Customization? No. Complexity? No. Itemization? No.

Will it compete in player numbers? PoE will never come close.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
