Diablo 4 does not have a chance to compete....

Maybe Diablo 4 will have some form of sexual content, that would be epic!

I have three phones, Blizzard. Three f***ing phones.
PoE with 4 tits Atziri has more sexual content than Diablo 3 had.

And let's not forget all the nude statues that you can even place in your HO.
Here's to hoping D4 tops that, haha.

That's accurate :P
Not entirely true. I am also casual, only playing 1-2h per day at most. Some days not at all. You progress much more slowly than other players for sure. You will finish leagues at a slower pace if it all. If that doesn't matter to you though you can still have a lot of fun. It all comes down if you value the depth and customization POE has to offer.
And that is the big issue: some of my friends just dont play because the game seems to complicated/intimidating to get invested into. I think that d4 will win to some extent by capturing casual gamers.

Different stroke for different folks. Not everyone enjoy PoE the way you and I do. Too complex and time consuming is a very big no to the crowd. As a filthy casual myself, if not for the passion and great mentors of my old guild that adopted me since the very first days, I may have quit after Ambush. You know it's isnt good for a game when players need to watch youtubers, streamers, guides and alt tab for cheat sheets to play efficently. Not even counting all the 3rd party programs and websites that's near essential for this game.

D4 will do fine. Heck, even D3 is fine for some people. Hop in, do the content, have fun with your friend then out. Just in a few hours. And that's all people with kids and family, friends and jobs want. That's sadly the part I'm heading too. PoE was never designed for casual.

Goddamn no.... im playing poe exactly for it NOT containing mmorpg party struggling bullsh*t. I will throw this game in window the second it will require somebody else other then my character to achieve all content.
LOL yeah right. Diablo has name brand and will probably sell 20 million copies first week of D4 easy and people will say it failed like D3 which sold 12 million first week. It's like Mcdonalds..crappy food compared to a kobe beef burger at my local burger stand but guess who's richer.

tl;dr; because of the reality of stock market, strictly nothing will get close to PoE as long as PoE is alive.

D4 looks like shit atm but I will buy it. And yes it won't be as good as PoE. Atm PoE is the king, it is what we have all been waiting, and it has gone so far that it cannot be dethroned anymore.

The issue is not the creative potential of game designers, it is the game market, no way open capitalization will give enough room for a team to scaffold something relevant enough to compete with PoE, they want their mediocre MVP release asap to get their return from investment, they are entitled to it as they bought stock.

What we will get is a succession of mediocre titles over and over, that will capitalize on the market that PoE set for them like Diablo/Diablo 2 did in the past. Diablo 3 had a fabulous engine(it is still a fabulous one), Diablo 4 looks like shit: even in technical demos it stutters. At a point PoE will start aging questionnably and a game that started averagely will start getting there, and over time it will get better than PoE, but I 'm pretty sure it won't come from a big company.

Another issue for the HnS genre is the engines, atm only D3 and PoE seem to have proper engines. D3 engine is going onto mobile, I'm pretty sure that D(3) immortal will compete ok against PoE mobile because of that.

You assume and extrapolate a lot here..who says that the POE devs will never update their engine? At some point they certainly will. And that alone would make 1000s of people come back and replay the game. The thing is, blizz is currently listening to the player feedback very closely. I believe it will be a good game, and the gfx looks very good actually. In order to compete with d4, poe2 was necessary. Let's be honest, most rpg fans will likely try both games and then stick with the one which suits them the most, especially longevity is important. In this regard d2 was very good, as PvP was extremely popular. I am curious what the endgame in d4 and poe2 will look like.

They are constatnly uprading their engine. Whta guys like him want is to jump to completly diffrent engine, starting from zero. Ofc people like that know jack shit about it and dont know that it would be like shooting your own foor to run faster.

Considering how badly they butchered the Lord of Lies chapter, I wouldn't hold out any hope
