[3.21] Aegis Incinerate Elementalist - Tank with over 10mil Shaper DPS!
This is so fun to theorize about!
It would be fun to try a new take on this build for 3.17 :) I am still a little confused on Ignite. If I understand the amulet correct, we can't ignite any more. As such wouldn't that make Combustion useless for us and maybe we could replace it with another support gem? |

One other issue to solve would be cold res. Looks like we are only capping cold res due to Wise Oak. That leaves us really vulnerable to cold damage when the flask is not being used.
This all feels really hard to solve with out more rare's in the build. I am going to be eating my popcorn and watching what you guys come up with it. :) |

" You are right I forgot about the ignite requirement for combustion, and the chill from arctic armour. major oversights on my part. So yes, combustion would not do anything for us. I believe everything else on arctic armor will work except the ailment so we will still get the dmg reduction and freeze immunity. Another option is to use skitterbots to chill/shock for us since minions can apply ailments but we cant. We also go inquisitor because we get +50 str/int from an ascendency and the lowest value will be added as crit chance. We are shooting for 250-300 int/str so the +50 on both helps us reach that value, and we get a crap ton of crit rate to abuse brittle. removing combustion will free up a gem slot, so we could run a curse maybe (no curses atm) or maybe a flammability on hit ring. It is alot of work to get this to even work, maybe the gloves can be subbed for a rare to get more resists. EDIT: Another option is to drop zealotry for purity of elements to get the resists we are missing, and with the watchers eye mod we could get up to 50% chaos res just from that. That is a big damage loss so I am not sure how bad it will be. Last edited by jeekudo92#0161 on Dec 8, 2021, 2:24:20 PM

" Purity of Elements would also make us 100% immune as well to all elemental ailments which would make us amazingly tanky. Playing around I removed Ignite from Config and Combustion from gems. Baseline DPS is 11.3m in that POB Then I swapped Zealotry for Purity of Elements and added in Skitterbots and a curse. That swap gives DPS of 10.3m dps. This would be a valid tradeoff I think. We would need to work on mana though. We may have to drop arctic armor but Purity of Elements is so strong it may be worth it. I do think swapping the gloves for a rare is going to be needed for flexibility. The chaos res from the watchers eye would be huge too. Hands of the High Templar were never core to this build. They were a nice niche selection at times but a rare would give us just enough flexibility I think we will need. I am still unsure though about whether balancing str and int are going to be doable. Arctic Armor is our biggest dex requirement. If Purity of Elements allows us to remove it, it also frees up some tree points I think. Last edited by AndyLovesHisBge#5265 on Dec 8, 2021, 5:20:06 PM

Wow you guys have been busy!
What is the latest theorycraft POB? I am curious how you can get 11M DPS with an inquisitor... |

" This is not fully fleshed out yet but here is a baseline we are kind of working with https://pastebin.com/3zJv3My2 |

Thanks, very interesting! A few comments:
You can only get scorched when 2 highest attributes are same so that might be hard to do. POB has "have you shocked enemy recently" but leadership prevents shocking so I think you need to uncheck that, losing some DPS. Can move the passive tree nodes that relate to shocking like Static Blows Don't really need the crit on the gloves with brittle, so another source to get resists or a culling strike mod Last edited by Chubbypuppy#3011 on Dec 9, 2021, 6:09:21 PM

" *Agreed that all forms of shock should be removed from the config and tree for now. *Related to the above we are considering though adding in the Skitterbots as they will be allowed to shock since they are not constricted by the amulet. This is one of the items we need to flesh out because we have to remove something to fit them in. They would give us back the chill and shock we lose from using the amulet so it may be worth it. *Not only for Scorch but also for Brittle and Sap that we need strength and int to be equal. With out even trying though, you can see they are fairly close in this POB. I think with a rare pair of gloves and one rare jewel in the tree we might be able to balance them. - The big items we need to solve are the following 1) Get more cold res (rare gloves should cover this) 2) Figure out the best group of auras to run. We may have two types, one with more offense based around Zealotry and one with more defense based around Purity of Elements. 3) Get more chaos res. The rare gloves should help, and if we use Purity of Elements we can get a massive chunk of chaos res from a Watcher's Eye mod. 4) Figure out what to do with the two empty sockets. A curse probably makes the most sense that maybe we could trigger with Tempest shield and Hextouch. The potential of this looks strong. How it works in real life is any ones guess. It could be a complete disaster trying to get it all to work. Physium seemed interested in trying this out but looking at his character he has not yet made the switch (it is a huge switch so I don't blame him for not wanting to try). |

Reading these last few pages has been really interesting as I played an incinerate tank with Aegis back around 2.4 and loved it. I came up with this Guardian version based on the last POB you guys shared. Solves the chaos problem by going CI. Free charges and more ES by going Guardian and still has 11.8mil dps. Only thing I'm not sure about is the ES. Between regen, leech, and on block it should be basically immortal in maps, but I'm afraid it's probably still prone to some one shots with only 6,500 ES. Can get a much higher effective hit pool with Incandescent Heart due to ele damage taken as chaos, but dps drops to 7.4mil.

" That is a really nice looking craft! Thank you for sharing. Very interesting. Two items would need some improvement 1) Need to cap resists with out the need for Wise Oak (this may be possible on the rings and gloves.) 2) The build can not sustain incinerate for too long (mana regen is 44.8 and Incinerate is using 65 mana per second. This is no flasks in use) This was a bit of a pain in 3.16 as well but we solved it eventually. You may need a second "channeling skills have -X cost" mod on the second ring to make this work. The Mana Mastery also helps if you can free up a tree point some where. Last edited by AndyLovesHisBge#5265 on Dec 9, 2021, 10:33:51 PM
