Wuhan China Coronavirus.

This week i received a email from my insurance-guy, tldring if ASP* breaks out i can be forced to quit my job for a year, luckily securing against that only costs me 500bugs per year. *additional to the 500 i already pay to the stateal institution.*

I hope corona is faster. (free holidays are priceless)

Edith: ASP, not AFB, AFB is already here.

As usually with people, some are overreacting, others are not reacting at all.

Because yo can't have a balanced opinion, either you got to one extreme of everyone will die a most painful death, or you go the other way, coronavirus is totally harmless.

Same type of argument done by the same type of people.

It's nowhere near as dangerous as some present it, you see people buying supplies as if a total nuclear war will break out in the next couple of days. Buying masks by the hundreds, supplies that would last them for weeks. I mean I guess this is good for business, people overreacting as if ww3 just broke out.

Get your vitamins, eat healthy, exercise, wash your ass and hands, and you will be fine. The chance of you dying in your 20-30-40-50's by this are quite small to be honest.

Not to say that it can't be dangerous, just that we aren't in the 14'th century, this is not the black death, once you catch it, there is nothing you can do,just wait and die.

Trying to reason with Mrs to be patient and not freak out.
She wants to buy a buttton of supplies this weekend "just in case".

Let her prepare if it helps ease her anxiety.

Now if she wants a 2nd mortgage to build a bunker, ok, step in.

But imo, trying to minimize someone's fears, when all they want to do is buy some extra food, water, and batteries, to feel safer isn't worth you making them seem hysterical or foolish.

Let´s see if you listened to her.
Question1: Which food is best to keep you healthy and prevents you from getting sick ?

Answer A: Canned food and frozen pizza with beer.
Answer B: Fresh fruits and vegetables with vitamins.
Answer C: That what the dog gets.

Question2: Which of these do you prefer to have a hughe stockpile of ?

Of course, I am being patient with her and getting whatever she deems necessary, not married for near 20 years for nothing ;)

As a vegetarian, I know the right answer, never fear.

No question we are going shopping, just don't want her to break the bank while doing so ;)

Besides, I have access to a remote location in case of a real emergency, that already has some stock of supplies, will be going there next month to freshen up the stores.

As the news said, about 80% of people who get Coronavirus are going to have mild symptoms that will just go away in time.

In my opinion, this is way over-hyped. Sure there will be fatalities among SOME of the elderly with weakened immune symptoms and some with very serious existing health conditions. Some say the death toll might be closer to 1% than 2%.......

But the over-paranoia is absurd in my opinion....There hasn't even been one death yet in the USA... While I'm sure it's coming, most of the deaths are still occurring in China.

Just look at it like a more intense and contagious version of the Flu....

But you can still prevent yourself from getting it....

One of Taiwan's most recent confirmed cases (a foreign domestic caregiver, likely Filipino or Indonesian) traveled all around nearby before they were able to diagnose and quarantine her. Including on one of the MRT routes I sometimes take, and the bus I need to take to get to the MRT.

It's been several months since I've been over that way, but that bus passes right in front of my wife's school. And a fair number of students and teachers take that bus.

I told my wife she should probably just stay at school and keep away from me. She said no and that if she gets sick, she'll make sure to give it to me so we can be sick together. True love, or something.
I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.
