First I wanna apologize I keep intervening in your domestic debate, although it occassionally does get the international flavor, but your domestic problems, how can I put it, well they actually ain't all that domestic. I hope the Democrats never cave and refuse to fund the wall. After 6-12 months, the alleged "government shutdown" will just be a joke, since 99.99% of people will be unaffected.
Hopefully a smaller government becomes the new normal. | |

The IRS and National Parks that could see some pauses or breaks in service. National Parks will likely be impacted. Check specific parks before planning any trips. IRS services will be impacted. If extends long enough then tax return processing and refunds could be impacted. " If the outage lasted for months then even those working in essential services would likely quit and find new jobs. So those services would suffer. Of course the biggest impact would be to the 700,000 families that no longer collect their paychecks. Such an extended outage like Khoranth is hoping for would financially devastate these families. Many would likely be forced to quit and find new jobs which would make it difficult to reconstitute the 25% of the government that had been closed down for so long. What has happened in the past on shorter outages is the back pay was given to both groups, those on furlough as well as those that were forced to work without pay. These government shutdowns in the past ended up costing us money not saving money. Nothing good is likely to come from an extended shutdown like what Khoranth is hoping for. If Trump truly cared about his citizens (and federal employees), then he'd just give up on his wall. It's fairly obvious that democrats can and will just wait until they are the majority before engaging discussions. Trump should realize that and just move on without penalizing all those federal workers that are caught in the crossfire.

If Democrats truly cared about their citizens, they wouldn't block border security in the Senate. They know if Trump gets his wall he'll win in 2020, so they're blocking it and putting their citizens in danger. They only care about not losing in 2020. And non-citizens, it seems.
