-20% exp on death needed
" You could achieve this by simply learning to read and follow build guides, as almost every popular build comes with good guides and a clear progression that starts on budget gear and scales as currency is earned into a fully min-maxed setup. Everything is laid out to make your life easier, and following the guide makes the process entirely straightforward. It should be entirely self explanatory that no build starts out in a fully min-maxed state. Many builds are even SSF viable, taking into account that you do not need to trade, which only makes things even easier in a trade league. The same principle that allows currency to be earned naturally also allows you to eventually min-max the build entirely. Learn, play, and it will happen on its own. Refusing to learn is not something the game can fix for any individual. Hobby Gamer and Professional Software Engineer & Systems Architect from Tennessee

" I literally can't because the builds are too expensive. I don't farm that much currency in multiple leagues let alone one league lol Like the moment a build is 50 divines or more I've lost interest. Its not worth my time trying to buy all the gear for it, then run an alt through the boring campaign, then somehow level him to 84 or 90 or whatever level I need, probably by going into legion 5-way rota carry groups because why would I level up beyond 90 with exp loss in this game in the year 2026. Its all too much of a chore. By the time I get all the gear I'm super burned out and have no interest in playing anymore. I'd rather spend all my divs on stacked decks/harvest gamba on some random rare card and see if I suddenly make lots of currency. And if I do I'll just trade it to a random player from global chat before quitting the league. Right now even trying to play a 2nd build is just too much of a slog, and requires wayyy too much currency. The game could be made more casual-friendly, and allow people to clear most content with cheap builds while still feeling overpowered. That's what I want. Right now there's too much grinding required to reach the actual fun part, and the payoff is not worth my time. |

" Take your time to carefully read and fully understand build guides… honestly, I don’t know what else to tell you to make it any clearer. Hobby Gamer and Professional Software Engineer & Systems Architect from Tennessee

" You do understand that every decent build guide has progression factored into to it? Build guides don't start with a simplex amulet. If they do, the creator makes a very clear statement somewhere like "this is not a league starter, this is not a cheap build, don't start this build until you ahve mirrors to spend, etc" for example, classic armor stackers, etc. You start with build with the budget version, and you progressively do harder content as you upgrade. Surely you know this. If not, THIS is what is missing. Youre hatred of T17 mods is due to how much pain they cause you. But if you follow a decent guide and progress your gear, they stop causing so much pain, and all that is left is the loot. Prime Example: I am playing a mana stacker this league. Currently I am using one of the rings that you would look at in a build guide and say " too expensive", which is true, it was like 600d when i bought it. However, when i swapped from my league start build to KBOC mana stacker, I used this foul born, which was like 60c at the time, probably still is. I used this ring well into T16.5/T17 juicing. My point is, you can excel without doing some of the steps you see a ton of people recommend, such as rolling a separate league starter. When I did eventually upgrade, it was to a helical, but not reflected, just well crafted (~95d). I used that up until like 2 weeks ago, when I was able to afford the "giga" reflected one (its still not amazing, as its only 3 mod and a low multiplier) Another note, I too hate leveling multiple characters. I will play a different league start if I -HAVE- to, but I spend a huge amount of effort looking at what will be good for league start, and what will scale well, and trying to match the 2 to the same class, if not the same ascendancy. This league I knew I wanted to play mana stacker hiero because of the buff to KBOC scaling, and all the wand changes. I had originally planned on league starting RF or elementalist wander, but at the last minute went with icenova of frostbolts hiero. Not ideal since the nerfs, but i already know the build so well, it makes up for it, and i didnt have to respec. I think all Tofortu needs is a couple good juiced blight explosions in his life to change his tune on T17 mods completely. Last night I had 3 T0 drops (on a 0% MF character) in <10 maps. " I know we have argued alot on here, and I will continue to argue against any/all claims to nerf hard content. But if you actually dont understand buidl guides/progression, and are only playing your current build because of lack of help, shoot me a PM and ill add you on discord. Happy to try and help you find a league start for next league that will scale and allow you to excel in harder mapping content. “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.”

" When I pointed him towards Tatiantel2's guides he flat out ignored me completely so I am not sure your kindness will be met appropriately, but good tidings and hope it helps him. 🙏 The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" I would be surprised if he took me up on the offer, but I am sincere. Some people have problems with understanding build guides, or don't know how to use POB effectively, etc. There is a ton to learn in POE, and I enjoy sharing knowledge and seeing people enjoy unlocking the next level of difficulty in the game “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.” Last edited by Piousqd#0073 on Jan 9, 2026, 11:34:02 AM

Tatiantel2 in particular has really good budget-to-hero guides for totem enjoyers. Tragedy he never responded.

" I want to add to this a standing offer to party up and blast the campaign on the next leaguestart, since Toffy has mentioned their struggles in the past with clearing the campaign efficiently and getting to maps with sufficient currency and gear to snowball their progression. |
|
" That's the most generous offer I've seen yet. Group campaign at league start is a commitment, especially not knowing the other persons time constraints or desires. “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.”
