Took a look around at peoples characters, why are so many people using combustion linked to storm brand. It does nothing for our Divine Ire ignite damage.

Why would it not?
Because it only gives the enemy -% fire res while it is ignited by storm brand. it is never ignited by storm brand because the enemy can only have one ignite, and that comes from Divine Ire because it is the higher damage one.
At least that is my understanding. Would be happy to be proven wrong of course. Looking for a 4th link for my Storm Brand :D
EDIT: Nevermind, I have proven myself wrong already. Reading the wiki sure helps...
Nice. That should give me a nice boost.

I don't think that is how ignite works. An enemy can have an unlimited amount of ignites but only the highest will deal damage at a time.
"
Separate applications of ignite do not stack cumulatively. Each ignite effect remains present on the target until it runs its course, but only the one with the highest damage per second will cause damage at any given moment.[3] For example, assume an enemy is inflicted with ignite for 100 damage per second, then after 2 seconds it is inflicted with ignite for 50 damage per second. The outcome will be 400 damage over 4 seconds followed by 100 damage over 2 seconds.
The description makes it seem like the enemy can have any number of ignites on them, unless this description is inaccurate.
I think the description of Emberwake should say "You can inflict an additional active ignite on the target.
Unless I'm totally wrong.

Haha, yea, I edited my comment at the same time you answered, after reading exactly that part of the wiki :)
After reading it, I added combustion to Storm Brand in PoB and it works there too. So assuming that it is unlikely that both wiki and PoB are wrong, I take back what i said and claim the opposite.

Added Glancing Blows to the build because it was only 3 points away for a pretty sizeable defense increase. Also removed Light of Divinity because as was pointed out, it did nothing.
So spell damage does nothing I assume based on this comment?
Looking at the new tree real fast (theory crafting in between projects during the day).
If you remove the str and 2 int nodes between quick recovery and arcanist's dominion you can use the same 3 on the int next to elemental overload and then 12% fire damage and 10% ele damage on the fire walker side.
Move the starting points to the right instead.

So, for defensive ascendacies, you guys are going for elemancer or Bastion of elements? I don't know what to choose. Any advice and feedback?
Heya. So I pretty much made this exact build on my own and found this thread looking for what others have done for late game scaling.
I actually took both... I took the 4 golem ascendancy nodes and bastion.
I went shaper of flame -> golems-> bastion.
So far with just hatred in early maps my damage and clear is pretty good and my gear is straight shit.
Unlike a lot of the PoBs posted im specced into block and glancing blows as well.
Between the golems, bastion, arcane cloak, glancing blows, and flasks... i basically never take damage.
Im only in t3 maps though so we will see how late game goes. I'm only on a 5 link with no damage on anything other than hatred so there's tons of room to grow.
Hope that helps.
FWIW I like tanky builds even in softcore. I hate dying. If you wanna go more squishy with better damage there are so many options.
I'm doing much more in line with what you did. Everyone in this thread going pure damage then wondering why they get fucked. I'm also at T3 maps and for the most part feel plenty tanky. I was curious about your character but the webiste is only showing you as lvl 22 so clearly something is screwy

That sounds like the new tree doesnt have the update about better pathing?
I mean like this:
https://gyazo.com/06defa6552c32446b6bfc38b5ce3c416
Saves 2 passives when compared to pathing through the area nodes.

It doesn't, unless he put the new one somewhere else. I took the top link from the first page.
OP made a new character, we may be losing him :D

Why are people using storm brand with combustion?
Why not wave of conviction with combustion?
WoC should proc -% fire since we have so much increased/more fire damage and not a lot of added lightning (and no added fire).
WoC would then ignite and combustion would apply more -% fire.
Or am I missing something?
