At level 70 and it feels pretty good with all gear that was found/crafted. I'll say that it takes a bit more effort in getting your gems right early than other starters I've played. This might be why other people are complaining.
I've never played ignite before so getting used to it, just following along wit what other people do for now until I understand the mechanics more. Also, does charging divine ire make more ignite DPS, or is it just the initial hit that it helps?
@Mecielle IIRC a few leagues ago we were both big contributors / high end builds in the same thread, I don't recall when/what build but I remember you and I (and others in the thread) theory crafting a bit over most of a league.
Divine Ire gives 70% more Ailment damage per stage so yes, charging it more drastically increases your ignite damage.

First maps going very very smoothly: https://youtu.be/Xi39jdmPGeM
Going forward it might be worth taking Bastion of Elements instead of Shaper of Storms but that is a huge damage loss. We'll see as I get into higher maps.

What comes out on top for DPS vs survivability out of:
1h / shield and shaper of storms
or
staff and bastion of elements?

The former. Bastion will be useless in 90% of the cases where you die, namely physical and chaos damage. I guess it would make some mapmods where the monsters get "phys as extra elemental damage" less dangerous. But aside from that physical and chaos damage are the killers, rendering the Aegis 100% useless.

See I thought so too but nowhere in Bastion's description does it mention Elemental Damage. It just prevents ALL damage.

I guess that is possible, if GGG is lying to us:
"
How does the Primal Aegis skill on Elementalist's Bastion of Elements passive work?
Similarly to the existing Aegis skills. While the Aegis is active, it absorbs incoming elemental damage from hits instead of you. The Aegis will be restored to full if it doesn't take elemental damage from hits for a short time.
It's also worth noting that recharge for all Aegis skills now can't be interrupted if they're completely depleted. The recharge time is 5 seconds on Primal Aegis, unlike other Aegises. The amount of damage Primal Aegis can absorb is based on how many notable passives you have allocated.
From their official league FAQ.

Who knows at this point. I'm going to get Shaper of Storms until I know for sure.

Can someone go test this please? I don't wanna waste regrets.
Just take off all your gear and see if Brutus does damage to you or not

So I've been playing this as my league starter, just hit Act 5 and so far it's been a joke. I don't think I've ever clapped acts as fast as this build. I'm running a 4 link and even then a single 20 charge has been oneshotting all bosses. Pretty gross. I am running into some defensive issues here and there but nothing major. Will def be a lot better once I get Cruel and Merc lab for Golems. Really nice build so far.

Added Glancing Blows to the build because it was only 3 points away for a pretty sizeable defense increase. Also removed Light of Divinity because as was pointed out, it did nothing.
