Why do you even play Path of Exile nowadays?

Because WoW is dead

WOW is very well received now & the latest expansions was well received. I resubbed to WOW and have a great time.

The recently added single button attack make combat so chill.

Also housing is coming and from what content creators who got to try the beta, it was overwhelming positive praises.

I think one thing WOW does good is the feeling of living in living fantasy world.

you can craft good items with rog and fracture bases with essence... or do some other mechanic that drops raw currency and trade for your item or buy the crafting materials to make one.(fracture+essence)

the thing with dropping excellent items on the ground it is going to completely nullify most crafting options. you cant have both crafting and really good items dropping on the ground.

edit: i do agree crafting is in a sad state currently and its possibly the main reason i have almost zero desire to play the game. just trying some stuff in std since there i have infinite crafting mats and i dont have to do the campaign.

I'm aware of those simpler methods and my current endgame gear (and most of my settlers endgame gear) was "crafted" using those methods. Even then it's the same old story:

- vast majority of non-guaranteed mods during essence reforge are laughably bad
- vast majority of exalt slammed mods to fill in remaining gaps (after crafting bench) are laughably bad like 3-7 cold damage on a weapon

As for your second statement, there is a happy middle ground and you are extrapolating my statement to some absurd conclusion. Currently virtually all wearable endgame drops are a joke, and "crafting" is the only alternative. I'm talking about having a reasonable (1 in 100?) chance of finding something like:

- a weapon with higher tier physical affixes period
- a weapon with double physical prefixes
- an item where the majority of affixes are higher tiers

The entire issue is compounded by the antiquated D2 notion that all item drops must be unidentified so that there is opportunity cost and "mystery" that something good might be lying on the ground. There is no "mystery" now. Everything on the ground is terrible.

If an average map drops me 50 terrible rare weapons identified on the ground (respecting my time), or I manually identify those 50 terrible weapons (giant waste of time), what is the difference in the end result here? Why did these items drop in the first place? To trick my brain into thinking that I'm being rewarded?

And yes that means seriously reducing rare item drop rates. That's fine. Let me be excited by 5 rare weapon drops in an average T16 map instead of knowing that 50 (or more) weapon drops are guaranteed pointless.

I'm probably screaming into the void at this point. The game is marketed and designed ground up towards the folks shown on streamer compilation videos on youtube, in which someone playing endgame 3+ hours a day is considered "lol casual scrub" and everyone filters out wearable drops except mageblood and a few other uniques.

Oh wait, I almost forgot to mention the incredibly sorry state of most endgame uniques in modern POE1. No, the excuse of "but they're build defining and have special powers so they have limited stats blah blah" doesn't work anymore. Uniques are the only alternatve to "crafting" in the endgame and once again virtually all are filtered out.

its fun ? i guess? and i like games

not that complex really lol
lol why not?
I alredy done literally everything on trade, so naturally, let's give SSF a try. That was my worst mistake. Playing SSF made me realize how mind numbingly boring the game is, even more so when you get to the half point of the mix-maxing stage. I dont shy away from crafting, but when it takes 2 weeks instead of 2 days to retry, i ask myself why i'm wasting my time here. So yeah.
Ruthless should be [Removed by Support].
