GGGs reasoning on not making a SFL?

I will never race in the current environment because I can't designate specific time starts based on "their" schedule. I have a job, a family, and other time commitments. Until they start all races on "Isbox1's time schedule" =/

It's the same reason I no longer raid in MMOs. I just can never commit to a specific time of day - even a random one. I often can play during X to Y time, however that fluctuates with my work schedule.

I'm sure a lot of people feel exactly the same as I do regarding races. Races are a broken system that favors people who have no jobs... in a system that already favors people who have no jobs.

Excuses everywhere :3
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
Because this game is a MMO.

How is this an excuse? I'm detailing specifics as to why someone (me) doesn't race. It's educational. Like I said: I would be more inclined to race if they had X hr time limit per account and gave you X days to complete those hours of play.

As it stands it's completely pointless to race if you can only complete maybe 1 race in a month based on "their" current schedules. Someone who has no job can complete all races 1, and 2 they would also have the advantage of practice since they can hit every single event. System is totally skewed.

Typical Xav response though. Someone lays out the dynamics - the logic - the reasoning - and Xav posts a meaningless 1 liner.

As far as I can recall, this game was never advertised as a MMO.

It is true though that many players tackle this game as if it is a MMO with much frustration on their part as consequence.

OK, so explain to me as a SFL mindset rookie :

There are this two really great builds I would like to try.

Build I needs uniques X, Y and Z to be effective.
Build II needs uniques Q, W and E to be effective.

While going self-found, I managed to find uniques X, Q and T.

I still do not believe there will not be a rain of tears about exactly this as soon as SFL is possible. But I am open-minded and am waiting for explanations to really understand.

IF there were an SFL, the people would know that - without trade - being able to play builds that require very specific gear will take some time.
So under which circumstances would there be a "rain of tears" from people knowingly and willingly playing that league? And what would they say - "Oh, nobody told me that No Trade means that you cannot trade!!"?

Actually that would be another good thing about the SFL. That being able to play unique builds would be an actual accomplishment, something like a milestone.
Related to that, you could bet that there would be far less people copying and pasting some FotM build, because you wouldn't be able to make your char by ticking off stuff on your shopping list.

Wouldn't it be nice knowing that everyone you party with most likely:

- Is someone you can trust (because: Why not? There is no need not to trust him)
- Achieved all he did on his own accord
- Has a good understanding of the game mechanics (at least specific to his build, otherwise he would not be where he is)

"
And you are telling me you are going to have a better time ("fun factor") than someone in a "normal" league, that could trade X for W, T for E and at least try build II compared to a guy from SFL, that was lucky on drops, but is unable to assemble an effective build out of it?

This is the fundamental difference between players who relish a trade-centric game and players who relish a drop-centric game. The former focus on the result (being able to play a specific build), while the latter focus on the "experience" (for lack of a better term).
So of course the latter will have a better time if the game gives them what they want.

However, in that video, Chris directly says they have SFL plans for the future.

So the only thing left is wait and see how they implement it. There have been numerous quality suggestions by the community already, so it will definitely be interesting to see what GGG opts for. I've no problem waiting a bit for it to happen.

I can't say I agree with everything Chris' states (that's normal I guess), but I'm glad to (once again) hear they're listening to the community. Thanks!

"This will be quoted out of context for a long time." :D Chris knows best.

I understand his statement as "we will implement some of the suggestions into the game which make the self-found experience more enjoyable/rewarding", not as "we have plans for a SFL".

Yup, thank you for correcting me there. It was supposed to say "SF" instead of "SFL", and then as you say, the statement can be understood as "we will implement some of the suggestions into the game which make the self-found experience more enjoyable/rewarding". He didn't say Self Found LEAGUE; only Self Found [players/desires/playstyle].
Life is tough... but it is tougher if you're stupid.
Another day, another SFL post. Wish GGG would just put an end to this and take a stance.

They have already stated no to SFL. Unfortunately with very soundly weak supporting items as to why. Nonetheless: they have for sure said "no" already.
