GGGs reasoning on not making a SFL?

SFL = nonsense league

trade disabled, party allowed, players start trading dropping items on ground

trade disabled, party blocked, very few would play it, making it a developing loss of time

What if dropped items can't be picked by others?

i love that gif! thanks for sharing!

if you can't pick up items dropped by others, comes the next example of how cool SFL would be:

me and you in a party
i'm ranged, you're melee

PA: suddenly a boss drops the uber 1h 400+ dps! the sword to rule them all! with my name on it. oh sorry bro, you'll have better luck next time.
SAorFFA: "oh shit, hey man this sword is 400+ dps! but i can't give it to you, i should haven't pickd it up but, you know... sorry, really, im very sorry; no please come on DON'T HATE ME, PLEASE!"

SFL has sense only if in SOLO mode, but still has no sense in a "productive, video game developing" way, unless somebody proves that a fat part of the players is devoted to SFL.
i don't remember where but once i've eared Chris saying that 50% of the players played new leagues, and 50% played standard. if that is true, how much of that 50% of standard players would actually play foreveralone for the sake of +x base Item Rarity?

edit:

:)
i'll probably get on probation for this, but i think it's worth it.

They never said it is their problem with SFL. What they did say is that no trade / BoA / similar SF related mechanics are of no interest to them, that's quite a huge difference. To say it in other words, it's not "we do care and would like it, but we can't do it because that would split up the community", it's more "we don't care".

Actually not wanting to "split the community" are Chris's words on why he is against a SFL.

It is really easy to overcome these issues. There could be a time window within which you can trade recently dropped items with party members (as in D3), or there could be a button which you could press to make items with your name on it free-for-all. Or whatever.
Trading Stuff with a Time Limit...
Trading Stuff per Drop...

Can someone Explain, in wich Universe, this Mode called later SELF Found League?

When you play in a group, the kill and the drops are the group's achievement. Is there a problem with giving the players a means to share the loot accordingly? Except for annally literal "Self-finders"?

As for the trade per drop: Read ignarsoll's post on this page.

I dont have a Problem with such Loot Methods, but Holy Fuck, DONT CALL IT SCHNITZEL!

I mean, S E L F Found League.

This Thread is about Begging and explaining why PoE Need a SFL, such Ideas dont halp, cuze they dont Fit the Term SFL.

Hey whats about a Ironman League, just with Trading, and Vendoring, so just like the Normal Game mode, thats allready Exist, but we call it Ironman for the Lulz.

In that interview : http://www.incgamers.com/2013/10/path-of-exile-interview-chris-wilson/2

"We feel that a really important part of playing an online ARPG is the ability to be able to trade the items that you find. The reason why they feel so amazing to loot and collect is because they have value to other players. Having a league where everything is soulbound is of no interest to us. We welcome players to play self-found if they’d like to (and are trying to make sure its balance is fair where we can – several of the changes in release address item acquisition and solo vs party balance), but it’s important that players can trade their items if they so choose"
IGN : @Morgoth
SFL is just a convenient umbrella term under which all the people "unite" who are unhappy with what free trade does to PoE. I would say the disparity between those who would want better drops along with it and those who just want the potential of RMT minimized is much greater than the disparity between those who are ok with looting options for a group and those who are not.

Don't make too much out of semantics here. They are beside the point. But if you really need to, just make up new terms according to what people write: No-trade-league, No-economy-league, RMT-prevention-league, solo-self-found-league, group-found-league, Better-drops-league, improved-crafting-with-no-trade-league ...

@Morgoth2356: I think Chris specifically talked of "splitting the community". But I don't know where and when.

He didnt said it specifically, it was the context why he dont think sfl will fit in the current state of PoE.
