this was the whinecrowds wettest dream for half a year , GGG was forced into it because of people whining the whole time about rarity/quantity being to important.
This was already hinted at before last league.

Because I don't spend too much time on the forum, is it possible for you to elaborate on how this is good for whiners? From a surface viewpoint, I only see this change as making rare things rarer.

It's genuine curiosity, really. Being a poor player whose never seen an exalt drop since closed beta, I actually see this change as hurting me. Unless there's a bigger change that I'm not grasping, like removing 'increased quantity' mods/gems will balance out standard league's economy because there will be less orbs coming into the game.

Basically many people who ask for self found, removal of MF and so on mean that they want droprates to be as if everyone had 300iir/100iiq. Other people are honestly thinking about 'the good of the game', or 'having an even field against rng with every spec' and so on (but I suspect they are few and far between).

Removing iiq while changing nothing about droprates is theoretically satisfying the crowd that wanted to even out the field a bit for all specs. But... many will still whine because that's not what they wanted, they wanted more stuff for free~

I love this arguement, "the game is ruined because new players cant have the best items drop in a legacy league, making the game not worth playing."

It's such a disappointment to see all the selfish kids that would rather other peoples items/builds get nerfed simply because they didnt find/buy one.

Non 4 month leagues aren't even viable unless your too casual to play in a challenge league, or too casual to make a new hero. If this is the case why would you want GGG to suddenly "balance" all the legacy leagues so everybody needs to regear and respec? This could mean your items nerfed and suddenly alot of peoples builds dont work, but hey at least somebody doesnt have something you dont have right?

So selfish, so bad. Please respect GGG's choice on legacy because its obviously the best for everyone and go play a 4 month if an even playing field is that important when youre new. New players that didnt or wont be able to find legacy items can still farm up currency and buy them but, of course, theyre too casual to ever do that so QQ on children.

nice logical fallacy you have there.

the long-term aspect of the game being ruined isn't somehow negated by short-term leagues... that dump into the same "standard" league, anyway.

if one wants to make a new char every 4 months and only play them, poe is the game for them. if one wants to keep using those characters after the 4 months, they're forced into a broken economy.

...it was quotes. from the forum. lolz!
So excited for the new content, it looks great. The Vaal orb is going to be tough to use, for a really great item it might not be worth the risk of a bad roll, but the rng is part of the fun.

They wrote keming not kerning... So amused. :D
Looks awesome, I see alot of nerfs though - who the hell cares, WE NEED NERFS!
ty GGG for the hard work, we (most of ur community) really appreciate it!

just 1 IMPORTANT question left

did u already stopped laughing about that QQ replies? and thanks for those guys to give me a funny evening after a hard day.

Might be a nerf patch as most say, but much needed nerfs, or do all anyone care about is being OP?

Um.. that's the point of playing games.

That is to say, progression:

Begin playing / start character - shit's hard.
Level, acquire items, learn, hone your skills and strategy - shit's still hard.
Realize your build is untenable - restart.
New character - shit's hard but not too much. Potential plateau. Eventually start anew.
Repeat until you hit an actual good build - shit's not faceroll, but you have, in essence, become a badass.

Point is, games aren't fun unless you eventually glean a sense of becoming better culminating in a badass.

Here is the general problem with nerf:

After thousands of players play millions of hours, some builds arise as very good (what, a total of 30-50 builds?) out of a couple thousand attempted (so ~1-3% return). The rare successes become established in the community.

Most players default to these "safe" builds.

This is restrictive, as only two handfuls of builds are competitive.

Now there are three general courses of action:

1) Nerf the "safe" builds. In theory, fine. In application, not all the "safe" builds are nerfed. Thus, the number of safe builds dwindles to, say, 15-25. Sure, the half that got nerfed is now more comparable to the rest of the pool of builds, but now the "safe" pool is even smaller, and thus to be competitive/viable, you must follow a narrowed selection of paths.

2) Buff the rest: raise the dregs of the game to a more viable status. Now, the 30-50 safe builds have COMPETITION. Sure, players can remain safe with their old friend safe-build. But now the adventurous gamers are going to experiment, and the new will rival the old. Now, the TENABLE/VIABLE/COMPETITIVE pool of builds enlarges. The game grows. Shit gets fun.

3) Introduce a ton of shit that invalidates all previous items/skills/builds. Now everybody scrambles to figure shit out. Overhaul. The established hierarchies are inverted, etc. This is pretty variable in how fun the outcome is.

My point is I feel they are restricting the diversity for the most part.

My final point:

I just want to check, if only one leech can occur at a time (the largest one), does that mean AoE skills with leech are useless? Like, say you hit for 10k per mob, on a total of 10 mobs. You have 2% leech from passives, and 8% from LL gem. Which of the following occurs:

1) 8% of hp from the total 100k dmg done
2) 8% of hp from the 10k dmg done
3) 10% of hp from the 10k dmg done
4) Other

What the f are you talking about? You lose the point. You do not need OP items or nodes to progress, fullstop. Nerfing the OP builds create diversity so no idea wtf you are on about again.
Since I dont play 40 hours a week I woukd really appreciate a perm league that wasnt a garbage can for op legacy items. That or just make legacy versions not usable in pvp. If I see standard pvp being dominated by legacy gear I'll peob just quit for good cause I dont have time to fully pimp a chr out and have fun with it in a 4 month league.
I love everything I see (minus a lack of commentary on the state of gambling/crafting) but am sad to know that the change to Vaal Pact is probably going to destroy my CI Reaver :/
woot!
last!
