1.1.0 Patch Notes - Sacrifice of the Vaal

After reading the comments, I'm thinking that this patch will be twice as effective as I'd anticipated.

All the entitled man-children and otherwise deliberately idiotic folk crying for "buffs rather than nerfs" will hopefully follow up their threats and leave this community.

POE is the haven of all "hardcore" gamers (whether they actually play on "hardcore difficulty" or not), since it is the only RPG with an intricate skill system, depth in its gameplay style and, most importantly, the CHALLENGE IT IMPOSES. The difficulty level of this game is one of its key features. Players seeking only "easy mode" grinding will, to my pleasure, flock over to diablo (and stay there -- or not).

DISCLAIMER: I've played ALL of the Blizzard/Activision franchises, and have enjoyed them each for what they where, and POE is, although from the same genre, a completely DIFFERENT kind of game, and must stay this way.

TL;DR: This game revels in its difficulty and complexity. If you want "buffs" or "ezmode" go play other games than host such things (Like d3, which, again, quite the successful game in that respect).

Finally, keep in mind that unique items are intended as an added flavor to a build, not quite it's most necessary piece (with few exceptions). Generally, a GG rare will surpass even the best rolled unique. Those whose tears flow as rivers after reading the notes, remember this: Koam's Heart was a MUST HAVE unique for ALL builds, only a while ago. After its "nerf", build diversity and varied demand sky rocketed. These changes -- nerfs -- are beneficial in all things.

+1

I really like the nerf (and I'm not going ironical or joking here, I'm really serious)
Without the nerf I would not try to find new build everytime that make me like this game.
Without the nerf I would never try other possible build combination.

I don't care about the legacy item actually, I do not play in standard or hardcore anyway, I prefer to use this little pause after a 4 months really intensive play.
I don't see also the purpose to have an incredible legacy unique, it does not prevent you to make an incredible strong character and be able to make end game content.
For sure it is easier to copy past a build with legacy unique than to make its own one...

I really like that this game is everytime harder and harder. I'm pretty sure if it was too easy I would have left for a long time already

I'm really enjoying all those change and hope I will be able to go as far as possible.

Question on my side, in the invasion league, one of the challenge will be to kill all new unique boss, can those boss also appear in Map ? or just in the normal act ? it will also affect the difficulty of the challenge for sure.

I wish you all nice game for the next 4 month

May the RNG be with you !
This update is so great i can't wait for it.
Thanks GGG for all the work on this game.

Everyone sees that vaal pact change right? So dont build melee, bow, or self cast if youd like to enjoy end game content. Your only options are animator, summoner, totems, or traps

Both my melee toons work just fine in the end game without VP so meh . . .
Sometimes you get the bull, sometimes the bull gets you . . .

I love everything I see (minus a lack of commentary on the state of gambling/crafting) but am sad to know that the change to Vaal Pact is probably going to destroy my CI Reaver :/

I play a CI Facebreaker. The Vaal Pact change will certainly affect me a lot, but I don't think it'll get anywhere close to actual destruction of the build.

Anyway, let's face it, my character did 43k DPS. At level 72. A nerf is not a surprise, and it is not unfair.

What the Vaal Pact change really means is that I won't be able to go into a room filled with 40 magics and rares, close my eyes, spam Infernal Blow, and open my eyes to a room full of dead monsters with me at full ES. I may have to use a few of those, how do you say, TAK-TIKS. I can live with that.

Nah, desync is only a huge issue for shit players.

The rest of us get by just fine, because we actually understand how to adapt to video games, instead of whining until they're toned down for our miniscule level of skill.

ok- so you see nothing wrong with the fact that you have to plan your build and your style of play around desync ?

really ?

i see a lot wrong with that. it needs improvement.
So will GGG be posting the new skill tree for us to pre-plan, or is this a login and figure it out thing? First time I've been through this and am curious. Thanks,

Since I dont play 40 hours a week I woukd really appreciate a perm league that wasnt a garbage can for op legacy items. That or just make legacy versions not usable in pvp. If I see standard pvp being dominated by legacy gear I'll peob just quit for good cause I dont have time to fully pimp a chr out and have fun with it in a 4 month league.

Obviously people that have time to spend "to fully pimp a chr out" are always going to to better than casual players and they deserve it. They are sacrificing quality real life time for a video game, let them get some reward for that. Same with the guys levelling into the 90's, they DESERVE to be better than the casual gamer. Hard work pays off in both worlds (although I prefer $$$ over chaos orbs), stop your QQ'ing.

The Elusiveness notable has been removed.

The reason for such a change evades me.

Also, great patch notes. A little bummed on the BoR changes, but since I don't have one I can't say it really affects me, though I did want to try it out on one of my DW/EV/BK characters. Looking forward to seeing the new Marauder tree tweaks, and curious to see how the Scion area was balanced as well. Tomorrow will be fun!
Does somebody know when will be available to begin build planning for future patch (and leagues)? :)
Now I can't begin it, becaus don't know changes in marauder/duelist's start points :(
When new skill tree will be available?
