Login screen "frozen"

Yep, seems to have some memory issues. Taking 3.5/4 GB in loading screen. Got in game at 3rd try.
I only have 4 gigs of ram, so 1.5million kb is really huge, considering the most I've ever had to deal with was 200k kb. And thats just minecraft because its crappy with ram.

So, is there a way to fix this permanently, or are we going to have to continuously try and try again until it works? :/
I should add that I've been playing the game for well over six months and haven't had this issue before today.

I've also run a pack check which returned no errors.
Same problem. Frozen at the login screen. I can task manager it shut, but then I get a weird sound loop bug and have to restart my computer for it to go away. I found instead of using task manager to end the process tree, that if I just restart while it's running it shuts down faster. Pretty much happens every other time I start since OB release.

Same problem here as well, 4 tries and still it is freezing everytime. The odd thing is I've been playing this game for a while now without a single issue until tonight. Something must've happened.

EDIT: Ran the packcheck and the game loaded much faster this time and I was able to get in. I don't know if the packcheck is what fixed it since the program doesn't provide any feedback, but I assume this is what fixed it so I recommend this to everyone else having the problem.
I have the same issue.
After every disconect and even normal logouts my login screen freezes and after a while the hole pc.
Same thing. It freezes on "Downloading...", then it crashes with a tiny, blank box (can see the desktop wallpaper through it) that says "Exception."

I've been crashing a lot in-game too thanks to memory.

I appreciate the fact that my PC isn't state of the art, but this thing uses way too much memory for what it is. I've never run out of memory playing Witcher 2, Crysis, STALKER, BF3, Star Trek Online, Civ V, Total War Shogun 2, or literally any other PC game since BF 2142 5 years ago before a patch.

I am also having this issue. The first time I started up PoE today, my game froze on the login screen. I restarted the client and the issue was gone. After playing a while, I logged out to switch characters and the game froze at the main screen again. The music still played, but I couldn't interact with anything. After about a minute, a window popped up and said "bad allocation". I clicked okay and then a C++ Runtime error popped up which forced me to close the client.

I have never encountered this error before today. The game worked fine yesterday (OB launch) and also for the many months I've been playing before that.

I ran the PackCheck and no errors came up. I did not have to download anything when I launched PoE after the PackCheck.

Edit: I have not experienced any freezes after running the PackCheck. I've played for about 4 hours with no problems.
