Campaign story is a bit boring to me now, but thats cause ive played it multiple times. im not coming back for that part anyway.
Think the best PoE lore/story comes from the layers of world building added league after league with new npcs and items. The obscure lore blurbs scattered across items similar to fromsoft games are something I really enjoy and they feel conistant enough to try and piece together deeper meaning.
Like pondering; what the dying/dead sun is all about, where/when are harbingers from, why is Chayula so mean to the other breachlords- they just want to be really close friends, what the hell is a solstice rhoa and can i have one... so many mysteries.
I never ever got the chance to fight an Uber boss like the Arbiter so I do not know the lore behind it.
I only managed to fight Xesht once and I still did not understand anything about it
I have multiple characters in endgame, but two of them are an Amazon lvl 91 and Druid lvl 87 but I never ever had the chance to reach the Arbiter or the 4th level of the ascedencies to fight those uber bosses
So yeah, I'm missing out on a lot of stuff

It's not just you friend. It feels directionless and full of inconsistencies. There's no weight behind the characters words or actions, especially not your own, and really no connection that you feel with any person or place in the world.
Should we expect amazing writing from a game such as this? Not realistically, but shit it woulda been nice. The blame lies with the customers, the player base anyway. Why should GGG pay for quality writing, or spend any resources on plot construction, narrative consistency, etc...when most of their customers will accept complete and total slop. I mean, just take a look at a few of the comments here, and take a look at 90% of the names people use in global chat...those are your peers.
Moreover in todays world why would they take any narrative risk at all when no one's demanding it from them. So yeah, you're gonna get what you get and its probably not gonna be great. You can only cross your fingers that it's not like Monster Hunter Wilds bad.
Fair point, especially the one about the character's background
For example, I keep hearing my Monk mentioning 'The Dreamer' , stuff like 'The Dreamer provides' , 'By the Dreamer'
Who is the Dreamer? A god /deity , a Hero of old?
so many plot holes

Indeed, that's true, I saw that we're getting quests for all endgame mechanics like Abyss, Delirium/expedition , Breach etc
So yeah, this is a plus, only thing is that I need to make a good build which will take 40 hours :)) but that's a good direction by GGG
Thanks for mentioning this, I forgot that they add this in 0.5

Dreamer will be added in new Breach storyline.
Sadly POE 2 is at the disatvantage of having the story continue from POE 1. So a lot of the lore and refrences are lost if you haven't played the first one.
In POE 1 we've already had a league focused on improved Breach and the Dreamer.

It's beyond just tidbits that feel out of context if you don't know the PoE1 lore...for me my problems with the story are more general with just the entire feel and direction.
Why was my character at the gallows, did I deserve it, was I railroaded by some unjust system? Why don't I seem super concerned that anyone's after me afterwards etc.?
The whole World is being slowly corrupted by a nebulous evil malevolent force (not exactly an original plot that we haven't seen 10,000 times before...), corruption. Guess I better help for some reason even though it seems like I might be a self interested shady character.... after all this weird entity that later tells me he's a god named Sin or whatever asked me nicely. Probably gonna get myself killed, but its ok, I suddenly decided without explanation to become a martyr for the world that just tried to kill me for some reason that wasn't explained.
Sure. I'll help these Desert People who use 500 or so slaves hitched up like mules to pull their massive caravan, even though I've seen plenty of giant magical beasts in this world that would probably do a better job, take less food, and be a million times less likely to revolt...these guys seem fine. Not evil at all, I'm cool allying with them.
Doryani was a genocidal maniac that almost destroyed his entire civilization? You don't say... hey no prob. After I hit him on the head real hard he said he was gonna help, so I'm good with him tagging along. Trust me bro, he changed his ways. (it would be unforgivably lazy of them if they do the old he was faking it and becomes the final boss at the end too)
Tavakai stop apologizing... its totally ok that you tried to kill me and selfishly caused all those people's deaths. You had a bad day ok, just go take some time to self reflect on that pirate ship in the docks. You can come back and join up again after your time out in the corner. I totally don't think you should suffer any consequences for your actions.
You get my point...the whole thing feels like there were pre determined characters and ideas/concepts that we're awkwardly shoehorned in, and it just kills the story cohesion and immersion.

I'm better than all of you, because I read the lore. And dungeon crawler Carl, an epic literature piece on par with Shakespeare.

First of all, the story isn't completed, and I'm not excusing it; you either get it or not. With that said:
1.If you pay a bit of attention in ACT 1, Count Geonor is a tad insane. Manipulated by Oriana, he became paranoid, and under the influence of the beast he started feeding corpses to it. And the corpses came from the persecuted people in his domain; our characters got caught and accused of various crimes, true or otherwise.
2.The whole corruption plot ties in with the POE 1 story; Sin has an important role as he created the beast. Our characters, same as in POE 1, are not shining heroes. They all have their own motives and shady pasts; one does what one must to survive. The Witch being my favorite simply because she wants power, no matter the cost. Hell, in POE 1, by the end we are killing machines in service of Eldrich Gods.
3.The world in POE is brutal, with no happy endings. The closest to good guys you get are the Azmeri (the semi naked tribal people that apparently talk to spirits).
4.No one trusts Doryani in the story....but he's smart and the world is going down the drain. Allies of necessity.
5.Tavakai was corrupted when he did all that.....but, I'll agree with you here; he got off too easy.
Yeah, maybe I'm just weird, and like the setting to much that I pick up every detail and piece of lore I can get; so getting the story feels easier to me.

Haven't read Dungeon Crawler Carl yet, have heard many friends recommend it. Not sure anyone is asking for Shakespearean quality writing, but how bout just not terrible, with some engaging and novel aspects that are capable of sparking interest and engagement? Is that too much to ask?? Probably.
