Is it just me, or the Lore & Story is weak and boring?

I played POE2 so far just for the fun of it, making a character, lvl up, craft & kill mobs rinse&repeat

I paied attention to the story when 0.1 first launched, i forgot everything, then in 0.4 I paied attention to the story, dialogue etc but for whatever reason I feel bored and not engaged at all.

I jsut don't know how to describe it, but I do not get that feel of excitement, intrigue, curiosity for the story in POE at all.

The lore itself is nice, but it's really weak in it's attempt to keep you engaged.

Not to mention that i hate not having a campaign skip, but because the story is not engaging at all, it feel like a chore.

All I want in POE2 is to get to the endgame and have fun there.

But, maybe I'm missing something here that would make the story engaging for me.

I feel like having some meaningful cutscenes would help

Even guild wars 2 has cutscenes that makes the game more enjoyable.

How do you feel guys?
Is there a website where this is explained better than the game does it for us?

P.S: I am not bashing or hating on GGG in any way, I actually like POE 2 for the engdame, but i am struggling to feel engaged in the story and to feel like until I reach the endgame I am at least enjoying the story

Maybe you need the POE 1 lore context to get it......
Personally I love POE lore and story. Listened to and read every piece of dialogue and lore on both games. Sadly, many people either do not care, or do not get it. And while ai agree that cutscenes are awesome in games, they are just extras; the writing and the plot is what matters.

I think POE's story is not popular is because it's not spoon fed to players. You must piece it together yourself. Most people don't even want to spend 5 minutes listening to the NPCs' dialogue..... As an example: my favourite bit of lore in POE 2 is regarding the Abyssals. When I reach the well of souls I always listen to that creature's dialogue. Is it cliche? Kind of, but I find it interesting and it leaves you with questions after; a bit of mystery is always welcome.

Also, it might just not be your cup of tea. We don't all like the same stories.

PoE lore is awesome. I don't even remember how many times I have watched KittenCatNoodles videos. Really good videos and the lore is dark and brutal. Have to see where PoE2 lore goes and how it changes. For now I have enjoyed PoE2 lore and story as well.
You stand before the gates of the Lord's Labyrinth. Within these walls, the Lady of Justice doth preside.
For me I've enjoyed watching videos about the lore. But I rarely pay attention to store when I play games tbh.

I enjoy having the campaign to play thru on new characters. Just doing maps for the first 60 lvls or so and then just... Doing more maps doesn't sound enjoyable to me at all. I like having the division.

Wouldn't it have been more fun and more enjoyable to have it better implemented in the game, and not to use external sources?

Either way, I will have a look at KittenCatNoodles so thank you for your recommendation :)
PoE1 lore, from act 1 to 4, is amazing. Probably the best of any other H'n'S game I've played.
Since TotA came out, I've sensed a change in direction when it comes to writing. Very iconic characters like Kaom sounded so goofy and unserious in TotA.

When it comes to PoE2, there's nothing I really like. All characters are very generic in my opinion, even the older ones like Atziri.
Maybe it's unfair to compare. Piety, Lady Dialla, Kaom... They are all so well written and acted. Or maybe it's a matter of taste, I don't know.

I agree with you, especially with the part regarding Piety and Lady Dialla
If you want a good story, get a book. For everything else, there's Capcom level of story telling. Honestly, I'm just glad there are no political messages in the game. It's as high as I dare set the bar.

At least as far as PoE 1 goes, you really must not have paid any attention to believe there's no political messaging there.

But to the OP, while I agree the story of PoE2 is a little weak, it's overall still solid, and the lore the game is built on is still good. It suffers compared to PoE 1, to me at least, in that it doesn't bury its lore like PoE1, but just puts it front and center, which prevents me from digging in to 'solve' the mystery.
I don't think anything related to New Zealand's local, somewhat primitive population to be political.
