Whilst hard to disagree, before I had 1000DPS Qstaff I was comboing Shattering Palm with Void Illusions dodge ability to pop the crystals. It was not as fast, but worked really well - and I was really deep into the monsters with dodging forward.
I feel like my build goes balls deep and without leech i'd die every pack.

That being said, I don't think there is a build that would only go upclose and bonk without splashes etc. You always can add some AoE, herald or something. Not using such would be wasting ways of improvement to the build just to fulfill the fantasy that doesn't really fit into the reality of gameplay in poe2.

Sorry, but if your definition of melee is that you are only allowed to hit 1 enemy at a time, that melee will inherently be bad because there are very often more than 1 enemy on the screen.

That take is just ridiculous.

You seem to be unable to explain what you want because its a paradox to begin with. You want melee to be able to clear as good as other skills, but you also want melee to be restricted to single target strike type of skills.

In the Video he is always up close in the enemies face hitting them with a stick, but using additional effects for proper clear.
He is not hitting the primary target from far away as a ranged attack / spell would.

Here's a funny comparison... I don't remember the skill name for sure, i think it was lightning warp.. but I precisely recall people having a build with that teleporting to mobs and exploding them exactly like you do there... does that make lightning warp melee? (correct me if wrong on the name.)

I have op weapon.

And It’s less that melee combat is weak, and more that the game is intentionally designed without a real place for true melee combat.

you mean he is touching things, as in going into melee range to deal damage with a melee weapon ?

Yep. There's not really a build or skill that does what I'm asking, and even if there was it wouldn't work or be effective or viable when all that's really needed in PoE2 is fast clearing. Do X amount of Damage over Y area per Z time = win. You can even use your AoE trash clearing skills to kill pinnacle bosses within 5-10 seconds or even one shot them.

Classic melee isn't going to work for that in PoE2. It could have had they gone in a different direction, but they've gone in the opposite direction, and enabling the true melee playstyle as I'm trying to call it would require a massive overhaul of general game design and mechanics. It's not happening, that ship has sailed.

It was never going to work. At no point in time was it intended to design the game in a way to enable your definition of "true melee". Look at some of the earliest classes theyve shown, huntress and warrior at gamescom a few years back, theres no different design philosophy visible there.

i leveled a monk some days ago and the gameplay pre icestrike is fucking disgusting and after that you just have to wish the character hits the fucking bell cuz autoaim will make sure it targets the smallest enemy possible instead of the huge bell you have the cursor at but meaningful combat i guess
