One Character. All Ascendancies. True Build Freedom

+1
I agree that this would be a crazy good idea in theory, but I also think it would be extremely complicated to balance.

The moment every ascendancy becomes available to every character, there will probably be some ridiculous combination that breaks the game in half. Maybe one spell gets spammed into orbit, maybe some weird interaction turns into the new "why is this allowed?" build. PoE players are very good at finding the one loose screw in the machine and building an entire economy around it.

At the same time, the appeal is obvious. It would give players real freedom instead of locking them into a pre-made path. You could actually build around the character and playstyle you want, rather than starting over because the ascendancy you need is attached to a different class.

The lore side is also a real issue, though. How do you explain a Witch suddenly becoming some warrior-style ascendancy? At that point, either the game needs a proper in-world explanation for it, or ascendancies need to become more abstract and less tied to class identity.

Or maybe the bigger question is whether the game should eventually become mostly ascendancy-free, with character identity coming entirely from skills, passives, gear, and choices made while playing.

Bring us Event's inside Standard League and abandon any future League plans. This would help gather all players in one place.

That's the worst idea ever.
Pretty much all players are in one place anyway. Almost nobody cares about standard.

mate maybe Im idiot or blind or dumb or all together, but what exactly changes here balance-wise compared to what we already have now?

If some completely broken ascendancy interaction exists, people will reroll into it anyway. That already happens. The only real difference is whether I have to waste another 15-30 hours slogging through the campaign again just because the ascendancy I want is attached to a different starting class.

The “wild broken combinations” argument doesn’t really work for me because those combinations are still possible right now. The only barrier is time, repetition, and frustration. If something becomes meta or absurdly strong, players will just reroll to access it. They already do that every league.

So what are classes actually protecting here besides forcing people through campaign repetition?

To me this system doesn’t create meaningful identity, it just creates artificial reroll friction.

it's cool to make it for ea, but afterwards it's huge disability for cool arpg,
making soy game's casualization will quickly lead to a loss of interest and replayability.

Why will the game become casual? We have the same thing now
