[Feedback] Time to Retire "Cast on Critical" in Patch 0.5
|
Ever since 0.2 when cast on minion death got nerfed into uselessness, its surprised me how cast on comet didnt get the same treatment in 0.3.
I have been playing minion instability since 0.1 and the only time i could use cast on minion death was 0.1. Ever since the nerfs the gem is almost unsuable for a build that kills minions every 4 seconds or so, all because some people abused the shit out of it. Meanwhile 100 comets per second survives, wat. |

" I'm not asking for PoE2 to transform into No rest for the wicked, not even interested in that game. This is just a straw man's argument. " It has nothing to do with the inability to make a CoC build. Heck, I don't like screen vomit and would never play it personally. Regardless, it's not about punishment, but rather the game's direction. The real problem is the current meta of CoC narrows build diversity into a single dominant archetype. It's bad for the game by making virtually all other builds non-viable and makes it almost impossible for GGG to balance the game going forward. " Respectfully disagree. From a design perspective, CoC is cancerous and should be removed entirely as it's fundamentally opposed to tactical, meaningful combat. CoC moves the game towards the screen vomit seen in PoE1 and D4, which is directly opposed to GGG's "vision" for PoE2. Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Apr 14, 2026, 11:08:18 AM

VISION IS DEAD. It never existed since 0.1 It's broken and doesn't work. There is no more vision. Vision is scrapped. Gone.

" The vision is dead on who's authority? Yours? I'm sorry but you don't speak for GGG and will wait to see what Jonathan and his team has in store for us. Until then, I'm providing feedback to GGG to strengthen the "vision," not weaken it. Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Apr 14, 2026, 11:29:17 AM

declined.
you dont want it? ok, dont play these builds, play another builds. I want cast on crit and I want more different types of crits. |
|
" It's not about what you want or what I want. It's about the "vision" that GGG set forth for PoE2 and CoC is directly opposed to that. It's pretty simple really. The logic is sound. Hence, CoC should be removed from the game to protect the "vision." Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Apr 14, 2026, 11:36:22 AM

" You need to rewatch dev interviews. GGG would like to give players options, likely via Atlas, for people to play with less mobs and higher reward per mob and opposite, more like POE1 endgame style. Spells like CoC or any other CoX will never be removed but balanced time to time. There always be "broken" builds to play - you might think it's a conspiracy but likely it's a key part of any GGG vision to date and way into the future. |

Doesn’t mean to stick your head in the sand when there are “broken builds” to play
Especially when it’s interactions like CoC comet currently happening. Can ask for changes for things that are clearly overtuned or unintended. This whole mindset of “don’t worry about what other people play” does have a line and nuance to it. It’s not an either/or thing Mash the clean

" Dead like… interest in poe1? Keep smoking your cope. The more you and your ilk keep pushing for the regression of 2 to becoming 1.5, the only people left playing will be *points at you* the dopamine addicts who can’t think beyond pushing more than 2 buttons at a time. |

" Well i love POE, but in the end it is a lot of a walking simulator. POE2 CoC has one big issue: it isnt balanced like at all. 100 Spirit is way to cheap for the amount of triggers. CoA is close btw. Spirit is just not as powerful. Outside of some herald builds, spirit is some movement like rhoa or some def/off buffs. And Heralds got so many nerfs, basically everyone should focus on cast on for 2/3times clear/damage. I believe its even way more st buff. They basically need to add a 30 or 40% damage decreased debuff and/or some other nerfs while coc is active to keep the trigger playstyle alive. Spirit costs are meaningless. Oh and btw, while mapping, my spark was already strong enough. Rares were nearly dead when the meteors killed it. Last edited by Aurosh85#7838 on Apr 14, 2026, 1:25:00 PM
