[Feedback] Time to Retire "Cast on Critical" in Patch 0.5

Jonathan emphasized PoE2 is built around tactical, meaningful combat, yet Cast on Critical is antithetical to that premise. In its current state, CoC’s total domination devolves gameplay into screen-vomit, incentives zoom meta and stifles build diversity.

To preserve the integrity of the "vision," CoC needs to be removed entirely from the game and GGG should not waste development time on a rework that will likely remain problematic going forward.

I love "Cast on", but the damage should be 1/10th of what it currently is.

Also, by heavily nerfing/disabling it temporarily we'll finally be able to have a discussion regarding how horrendous the cast time for some skills is. Meteor is absolutely unusable outside of CoC/CoA.
Reassure me, you weren't forced or compelled to play it, I hope?

How does Coc degrade the gameplay when you are free not to play it?
Everything is just a matter of choice after all, you just need to make the choices that suit you and let others make theirs.

Another point: To preserve the integrity of the "vision"

Here, I will need "the vision" to be presented to me because playing in ultra endgame min-maxed in Temple-type mechanics requires spells that meet the challenge. Currently, CoC is up to the challenge as it perfectly fulfills its function.

I think there is a bias in perception and comparison in that, on one hand, you isolate the case of ultra endgame gameplay to make it a generality.

"the total domination of CoC degrades the gameplay"
Uh, whose gameplay? Not mine, that's for sure.

"CoC should be completely removed from the game and GGG should not waste development time on a redesign that will likely be problematic in the future."

Here we are, and clearly, just claiming nerves is no longer enough; now it's complete eradication, and on top of that, with the wise advice "GGG should not waste development time."

Dear Charles, if the producers of GGG started to follow this wise, pardon biased advice; we could then see that "the integrity of the vision" would be reduced to one thing: Nothingness.

I hope that this new 0.5 league that is coming will be just as generous as this 0.4, in terms of gameplay proposals, skills, and will allow everyone to have fun.

And for us players, the only advice I can give to the producers is to please yourselves, please us!
Advocates of "meaningful" combat are swarming the forum - all 10 of them.
I would be significantly less inclined to play the game if it was removed.

Games for those who want slow boring gameplay already exist.
No rest for the wicked is very highly praised, only issue is their player count not being able to beat the average POE private league.
If GGG wants to go that route then fine but it's going to mean layoffs for a large portion of the company and a far less profitable business.

You watching too much Talkative Tri videos. He's coping about something that nexer existed in the first place and you right now doing the same. 0.4 is the direction of the game that will go into the future from now on. With the upcoming endgame changes I hope they rebalance the combat side of the endgame so the transition after campaign will be much smoother. Right now it's you screen clear everything before they even appear on the screen or get light stunned to death in two seconds.

You asking for such sweeping changes yet you didn't even thought will it be fun for the playerbase to play this game after such changes? You basically asking for Riverbank being a entire game. You probably really need to find another game at this point.
Cast on crit should most definitely exist and there should be more variants of it as well.

The issue is realistically the damage from comet when cast from coc ( not manual cast ) and not a issue of coc itself.
Not sure what the best way to solve it is. But it needs a solid neft. AFK running the maps should not be the fastest and strongest way to play the game. Either it needs a massive DPS decrease, or it needs some cooldown between autocasts thats not modifiable without some insane chase unique like Temporalis. A flat cooldown between casts of 0.5 seconds would keep the fantasy of things autocasting consistently, while stopping the apocolypse snowstorm everyone is running atm. Could increase DMG to compensate so they still feel impactful.
Yeah, let's level playing field to the point when no end game progress really matters, no temporalis, not end game mix-maxing to keep all casuals happy.

Just to be clear - I've never had temporalis and likely never will but I have no problems with the fact that some either luckier players or those investing more time in the game could/would progress faster or achieve more in a week than me in a month.

Envy is a cardinal sin for a reason :)
Looks to me ppl who can't make it work are pissed off.

And now everyone should be punished. :)

That's a bold strategy! Let's see how it goes.
