Diablo 4 New DLC VS PoE 2 0.5
" already finished the d4 new season, its just D3 with better graphics and couple new useless systems, ill be back in poe2 when 0.5 releases |

" I am not willing to pay another 40-60 bucks after giving them 120 + 1,5 years of my life for that pile of g they called a game. I clearly payed for a full release title and got the beta test / EA experience instead. Not gotta give Blizzard more of my money because they decided after two years to finally release the 1.0 version they call 2nd xpac. This D4 you are playing now should have been there from the start (minus the new classes and regions I give you that). If the forums were a mediaval court, it would be filled with jesters and doomsayers Last edited by Dovolan#6140 on May 5, 2026, 7:04:43 PM

If you exclude gatchas, D4 has probably the most vile monetization scheme that exists. Ok maybe Destiny 2 is a decent competitor on the matter but it's a close match! I find it additionally egregious how they are extra hostile towards their more loyal base, or them moving standard features like the Cube behind new paywalls while you already have paid for them in the first place, and the list goes on.
POE is an oasis in comparison. I m not counting pennies, but I also don't enjoy feeling exploited or supporting such vile crap with my wallet. |

" People don’t mind spending money on a hobby they enjoy and this basically gets taken advantage of lol. I also don't mind opening up my wallet for GGG because I feel that the product they're providing is made for us, the players, not the owners. People notice when it feels the opposite because it feels slimey, like buying a used car and feeling like you probably got greased by the salesperson. Dark patterns and schemey monetization techniques are born out of incentives that favor short-term revenue at the expense of long-term trust. It’s not necessarily malicious, the people directing it are just all incentivized to ignore or rationalize that they're trading away that long-term trust in exchange for the extra money. When creators are close to their work, value-received includes the pride regarding player enjoyment. When investors dominate, the value perspective narrows to money, and any intangible asset like goodwill gets converted into money rather than preserved. It's actually an argument against public equity. Once a company is owned by a decentralized horde of public shareholders the only unified desire from them is "number go up". People love to criticize CEO's/MBAs/executive management or whatever but these people are just another byproduct of the greed-based incentive structure that exists around them, not the cause of it. I feel if GGG ever loses people like Jonathan or Mark (amongst others) who really have that passion to create something great for gamers to enjoy, we're in trouble. Especially if we also start seeing interviews from some other game "director" who looks like he's trying to maneuver around an approved script in order to avoid saying the wrong things in front of an off-camera executive who's dangling their employment contract over a paper shredder lol. That's when we'll know the incentives have changed and they've stopped making the game for us and have switched to making it for the investors. As it is now, I actually feel good spending money on supporter packs. Just don't tell my wife how much I've actually spent lol. Who am I to say anything, I don't respect my time either.

New LoH DLC is actually quite good, just waaaaaaaay tooooooooooo maaaaaaany fking bugs, made the game a completely mass.
And all real life video game friends around me quit POE2 at 0.2.0 I guess and never came back, but playing D4 every season. Last edited by Kaoless#0828 on May 8, 2026, 2:05:39 AM
