[Feedback] Address Defensive Disparity: Proposed ES Nerfs for 0.5.0
![]() " EDC lich is the most basic ... one trick build in the game and thats fine if thats where someone is at. But try to learn a bit about armour before saying its bad or "not viable" as it doesnt seem like even the most minimum ammount of work was put into that idea. Like I should at least see a character. Warrior preferably as thats where the actual main tree is for armour. And then we can start talking about if its good for druids, sorcs, rangers etc... If you want to have that opinion that armour is bad, great. I will be here, with evidence to prove it wrong. You have a failed ice wolf druid, that was SSF attempted, outside of your normal play.... based on what you are telling me and your available ninja of two liches... You have a lot going on here that doesnt suggest armour is the issue, but your own experience and attempt with it. How come I can make it work, several leagues now, but you cant? Its not mirror tier gear. Or any other of the silly excuses, like Defiance, Shield user, Brass dome etc... I have all my progression gear still without all of those things if need be. One of the current problems with Armour is that the devs automatically assume a source of Block will be incorporated into the build. Armour performs fine when supplimented with Block, much less so without it.
ES is excellent on its own already, even when max Life is capped at 1. Last edited by LeFlesh#9979 on Feb 7, 2026, 7:28:59 PM

Without block you will for sure need something in the way to help mediate some damage.
Defiance more than takes care of that but I could maybe find out something with further testing without it. It would probably be just a bit more regen, which wouldnt be much of an issue. Mash the clean

Whatever flavor of the rainbow makes one take a picture of their own post and then post that picture within another post as their response instead of just, you know, responding is a mystery.
Your claim was their class didn't start in an armour section. My point is that their character's ascendancy nullifies your claim. Simple as. |

" Pretty much this. ES is good, because you don't need supplementary/redundant defense layers to make it work nor do you need weird synergies with a bunch of other (potentially) proc based skills to maximize potency such as banners and conditional buffs. I think armor and evasion should be given that same benefit, with said layers being a bonus if you want to double down as a tank. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

" If you need clarification on what a class is versus what an ascendancy is let me know. You are pivoting hard to something that isnt even the claim that was made. The word class was even highlighted by you; so I guess the nullified claim is self fulfilling by the user attempting a strawman. That ultimately failed as proper attention wasnt given when responding. Its a small mistake I know, but make sure to read and respond to what was actually said. Instead of trying to ... make a different argument to detract from the statement entirely. Clarification was also said for anyone with any confusion on this subject will be posted below though I dont know who would actually be confused by this statement:

" Without recharge, start of recharge, Conv, ghost dance etc... ES is not good on its own. Had this conversation already. Ie: Mechanics surrounding ES Mash the clean Last edited by Mashgesture#2912 on Feb 7, 2026, 7:51:09 PM

They should just add some flat life notables to the armor/armor & evasion side of the passive tree (Southwest/South) and then just give Chaos Inoculation something like "25% Reduced Start of Energy Shield Recharge & 25% Reduced Rate of Energy Shield Recharge" so you still get to have a big Energy Shield pool, but the downside is that it's slow to start recharging and slow to recharge in general.

[Removed by Support] it's already hard enough not to get one shot randomly as it is.
If anything, other mitigations mechanics needs a buff, not the other way around. Last edited by Ramon_GGG#0000 on Feb 7, 2026, 8:10:05 PM

" This is at least ultraviolet + the visible spectra. ES has more tools and a better ease of access to them than it's counterparts. Deflection & %vs.Elemental/Chaos being more recent/restricted additions is proof. |
