Was this league a success?

Why? I don't remember PoE 1 ever doing it and we've had some pretty crazy currency explosions. Is PoE 2 truly so bad only hard reset can save it?

Much more friction historically in PoE1 trade. Economic velocity faster now.
0.4 SSF: Gemling Minions: https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/DistributedAutomaton-5739/character/CrystalController

0.3 SSF: Evasion-only melee challenge character: https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/119e9
Theres a reason the friends I gifted this game too haven't played with me since the season I gifted(season 2)

Its so ridiculously just not fun, Finally gotten my SSF character to a good state, killed atziri last night, legit produce buckets of sweat, palms are sweaty moms spaghetti all that shit

The game literally require you to have a towel handy because you get that fucking sweaty and its just not fun

The little fun we get isnt fun its just dopamine receptors in our brains being set off, same reason crack addicts smoke crack xD

It is the addiction to this dopamine, the loot, killing that boss, clearing that next map, getting that next level

Yet the entire experience along the way LACKS ALL FUN, played from the end of season 1 to now, 1800 hours, never even attempted 4th ascend untill season 3 because I was that scared, was at the point of almost quitting, but I persisted through it finally killed zarokh(I was ranged, couldnt even imagine melee) and that alone wasn't fun, 4 floors of sweating your ass off meticulously for 2 more points.... like fuck, having to do the chaos trial 4 times, just no, and levelling past 90? I consider 90 level 100, Temple almost made it possible THEN NOPE FUCK OUR PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What finally scared me away was when they introduced the tower change in 0.31
Forced bosses on every map, removed rare icons, didn't make it clear bosses were tied to map just shadow dropped this BS, if you thought shit was hard to get then? Its 100x harder now, and removing instilling maps and passing it off as a good thing because people complained about visual clarity?
Yet all boss fights and alot of the game still suffers from visual clarity issues? I stopped maybe a month and a half in, shortly after 0.31 that was the nail in the coffin for me

Returned to Season 4 for druid and holy crap how they butchered my boy, the lack of synergy between forms, one ascend being purely a spell caster, like ya druids are spell casters but not mainly, was expecting a hybrid ascendancy and a pure shape shifter ascend but nope, Spell casting is the only way to play and enjoy this game as ES is broken, Benefits entire right side of tree, Left side of tree has no way to compete armour doesn't do shit and thats coming form a druid with 80k armour max resistances and 140% armour applies to elemental(only applies to hits)

I like theory crafting, too bad you'll never get those items in SSF forcing you into trade league and slaving away to all the sharks

Make SSF enjoyable and easier to target farm, or simply balance this game, and make the trade league a fair experience

Still have never finished the 50 splinter delirium pinnacle boss/waves literally just insta kills you.... this isn't fun

Nope, don't know where you guys get your information but the league never reached above 100k average players. Not peak, average.

Now that it's all over but the screaming I would like to know- does anyone view this league as an overall improvement to the state of path of exile 2? does anyone think it's good that it lost half its player base as soon as free weekend was over? does anyone think it's good that the entire economy was determined by an unintended feature of how the temples interact with one specific part of the temporary-solution interludes? does anyone actually enjoy the current state of balance? does anyone enjoy the feeling of dread they get from looking at the patch notes and wondering if their favorite skill will be rendered literally unusable for absolutely no reason? (Cough Incinerate, cough cough Lightning Warp)

I have 800 hours in Poe 2. I put 8 into this league before uninstalling, and my harddrive is now a better place for having empty space and fragmented files that were once wasted on holding this atrocity of a game for weird masochists. Will the devs actually listen to their players who overwhelmingly hate the direction this shit is going, and have demonstrated that by dropping this league in record numbers? Or will they double down on their "vision" and cater to the like 5 people who apparently still enjoy this shit?

Time will tell.

I am not against their vision, and in fact they having a vision is a very good thing, it means there is identity. Having that blurred means lack of identity which is bad in the long run.

There are always lessons to learn from failures, let's hope they learned theirs... Instance reset has been used as an attack vector by bad actors, yes it should stay in game, but new mechanics should be designed with such known attack vectors in mind. They need to improve on that.

Early Access is one thing, and it often is blurred, but I'm this case, it was payed, that alone should entitle more responsibility on deployments. They don't seem to like rollbacks, rollbacks are needed sometimes, no one likes, but nasty things happen.

Two or three leagues from now we will know if they learned anything and improved or not. Then we should have this conversation, not now.

+1
The early access thing is really smart actually
- constant excuses more than an year in, likely to keep going strong in 2026 when things like bad performance and broken economy are brushed off "because EA"
- a 30 dollars paywall - so they are basically selling their game while also promoting it as free
- an already established cosmetics and loot box market even before the campaign is done
- patching the game every 4 months because leagues

haha

I am actually against their free to play model. This game would be perfect for subscription model or at least 60euros, and have their mtx still available.

I would still pay for it. Any game where people can do smurf accounts and have discartable accounts for free isn't worth to be taken serious.
Overwatch used to be pay to play. The game was still absolutely full of smurfs. 60 dollars is nothing for most people.
No to me it was a massive letdown. The only reason GGG gets away with it is because they have limited or no competition at all so they always get away with shitty releases and streamers can't stop sucking their cock since there is nothing else in the genre that has the same depth and complexity

Yeah, this league sucks ass. It's been a month and I only now, today fought Atziri, not that I've been playing too much this league, maybe 60 hours, but still. I couldn't fight her becasue of the bugged room, which blocked entrance. They fixed it only month later.

Not even saying I killed the entire league boss Atziri in just one single shot. Well, two shots. One for the first form, second for another. And that's it? Supposed to be impressive or something? On the other hand likely you only have one attempt to fight her, so I don't know whats worse: to one shot the boss, o lose a chance to win it. Both cases are horrid outcomes.

And I know that many people believe that economy is broken in many ways because of the temple exploit. Only it's not, it happens because temple consume players' time, and they do less of all the other content. If someone is playing 5 hours a day, he will play 5 hours a day, only he will waste a half of this time in temple, isntead of farming that same omens. Today I've been paying 50d per sinistral erasure and over 30 for each whittling. You need 80 to perform one single reroll. And if someone think people will be selling their shit for moderate prices they are wrong. For this reason prices for decent items skyrocketed very early in league.

The very existance of the temple has broken economy, not the exploit alone, if it had any notable impact at all.
