I mean if you dont have $10 to pay for some tabs, maybe you shouldn't be playing video games with your time?

Sorry, not a popular take, but.. paying for tabs, is that really the hill to die on?

I'd pay $60 for just a decent league, much less $10 for permanent tabs.

So basically you are saying half of the planet should not have entertainment because they cannot pay the price that is set up to accommodate the other half of the planet? Are we supposed to look at the ceiling or watch paint dry after our work hours are done?

I mean its $5 for 3 premium tabs. There is no sale now so maybe its only $2.50 if you time it right?

I really don't mean this in any bad way, but... is that really a problem?
P2w! Stash tabs give 300% more damage against ubers.

I mean for some people it might be a problem. In my country the average salary is 200$. Can you see yourself spending money on games with an income like that? I am sure there are even poorer people and countries and they still would love to have entertainment.

They used to have regional pricing but removed it before releasing PoE2 EA. There's been no official statement on that but plenty of speculation on it does exist. Obviously the decision is based on money but it's going to be more complicated than that since we don't really know what effect region pricing was having or was going to have on the financial integrity of the game. Hopefully they'll reverse that decision or at least address that at some point.

If you have to worry about basic necessities gaming isn't probably on your priority list. Not to mention having a computer capable of running PoE and a high-speed connection would be out of reach as well

if you think time and effort are not an advantage, then would you consider a level 100 autolevel real money shop item p2w or not?

currently players can get to lvl 100 on the first day of league launch. and with the omens, death penalty can be reduced. getting to 100 is just a matter of time if you dont mind running safe t16 maps. or you could just engage in breachstone runs or just join XP parties.

getting to level 100 from a 10USD purchase shouldnt be considered p2w right?

i dont think its a problem.

i think theres more to it than the tags like p2w.

whats the difference between poe1 being pay to win and essentially every other arpg being pay to play?

in the diablo games, le, grim dawn etc you have to pay a basic amount of money to play the game in any way.

in poe you can play the game for free, play 100s of hours and see what you think of it, be solo self found and not care about any of this trade stuff just play the game with the same amount of stash space you get in the diablo games etc. but if you want to be competitive in the trade economy you need to buy some tabs for a basic amount of money which is the same barrier as simply playing any of the other arpg titles, none of which are labelled with the p2w slur?

is the poe system less fair than these other games? no. is it less moral? no. does it require more money to take part? no. does it allow someone with £5000 to buy a significant advantage over someone with £50? no.

so whats the problem? why are we putting this p2w immoral tag on poe but its ok for every other arpg ever to be a game you have to pay to play?

imo just a total non issue. ok the game is soft pay to play now... fine. good, it should be, thats the capitalism i presume you are all voting for? if it wasnt they would risk running out of money, and then all the money we all paid towards this game goes up in smoke when the game shuts down right? but your mate who you are talking to about poe, can they still install the game and just play, for maybe 100, 200+ hours and see if they really love the game before spending anything? ya. and then if they want to 'buy' the game its what? £30? £50? so less than diablo game.

things im not losing sleep over in 2025.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

I think the main difference for me is that it unlocks something actually in game: asynchronous automated trading. That feels big enough that it is worth calling out.

I think it could all be fixed if they just called the free version game an extremely extensive demo that unlocks nearly the entire game. With everything you need to store now, tabs came ever closer to the line of F2P -- but mule accounts could still exist so there was a way. Premium tabs made listing things easier, but there was a workaround still (though I think most people don't know it). And now there is the new way to trade which has no work around whatsoever. That's an important distinction for me.

This isn't a problem for me specifically btw.
Thanks for all the fish!
