I mean if you dont have $10 to pay for some tabs, maybe you shouldn't be playing video games with your time?
Sorry, not a popular take, but.. paying for tabs, is that really the hill to die on? I'd pay $60 for just a decent league, much less $10 for permanent tabs. |

i would argue pay for convenience is p2w.
look at wow. they have a instant level 60 item. their defenders would say "its just convenience, any decent wow player would eventually reach level 60, its just a matter of time" in poe we have people reaching 100 on day 1 of league launch. if time is used as a measurement of resource. in the grand scale of things, pay for convenience saves time/hence is actually p2w. has anyone forgotten how it used to be before currency tabs were a thing? we have 144 slots per stash tab. we had to fill em up with 1 stack of ones currency to make sure that the currency we dump in goes into our stash tab in an organized way instead of all over the place based on availability. how much time does it take to calculate how many currency you have? sometimes i would want to buy something then i have to quickly count how many stacks of chaos i have x 10 then add the balance. sometimes i miscount and sometimes i have stacks in unexpected places. then what about map tabs? last i remember we had what? 130 maps to complete our atlas bonus? does anyone remember how tedious it was to arrange your maps. now we have the ability to get maps at different tiers. its all time. stash tabs saves time. and it saves so much time i find it weird that people would just say its just "pay for convenience". we're at a point that its much more than just convenience. when it comes to trade its much worse. i remember trading of my andivirus for 4 or more exalts? took me literal days. i had to spend time to create the post. wait for a buyer, buyer had to contact me, we had to set a preset time/date and finally meet up in game to conduct the trade. if you dont think its p2w. then you shouldnt think a level 100 free pass is p2w either. or a potion that prevents xp penalty. or a potion than speeds up xp acquisition. if you do think theyre p2w. then remember, all these are time savers. all the stash tabs in poe are huge time savers. as for the argument. "GGG deserves people paying for their game". i agree they do. my real name is in the games credits. i already voted with my wallet. and i gave them more and more. i've long stopped giving them money tho. poe simply isnt a game i enjoy anymore. but back when i did. i can tell you. when i gave ggg my money it is because i loved their game and i loved their company. they did not need to strong arm me with any bullshit. i gave my money because i felt they deserved it. and to that extent i believe that giving players a free stash wouldnt hurt them too much. most of us already bought preem stashes. if botters are something you're worried about. ggg can gate the free preem stash by making it a campaign clear reward. You've never been able to list items on the trade site without buying premium tabs. The only difference here is now we'll have an in-game UI for it which won't require you to be online 24/7. It's a QOL upgrade for what was previously a complete garbage trading system. Not even remotely pw2.
General discussion gaming forums are almost always a cesspit of ignorance and trolls.

" we can list our items for sale in forums. thats how we used to do it. p2w simply is can you buy something in game that gives you an advantage over a player who does not buy that thing. with preem stashes - saves buttloads of time, management/calculation/headache also gives the ability to easily trade. you just need a few seconds and a few clicks to do it. without, if you want to trade, you need to go to forums, login, create a post, link your item etc. bump it once in a while. or spam global trade chat. how are stashes not an advantage? " To use the Trade site and trade with "less" friction (by pre-3.27 standards) you had to have a premium tab. Async trade arriving does not change that. It's status quo. Not sure why some people (including you) choose to use Async's arrival to debate if the premium tab was "fair" in the first place. I guess that's your prerogative. But stash tabs are part of the foundational business model for GGG. I'd argue that, if a player decides they like the game so much they want to stick around and trade (with less friction), then a token fee is a very "fair" and non-predatory way to monetize the player base in support of the further development of the game. |

There's even less to expect from players interactions in game now. Meaning less appeal to pay for flashy MTX that almost no one else will see.

" all that said so do you get an advantage for buying preem stashes or not? [Removed by Support]

" It's no different than using premium tabs to list items on the website. This new system is actually better since it will effectively eliminate the fake low-ball listings that underprice everything and never sell it to drive the price down. You also only need the merchant tab to sell the item, not to buy it. Everyone is on the same level as far as the purchasing of items goes, and the economy will be healthier. I have my issues with GGG but this isn't one of them. They aren't a charity. If you don't want to pay for the convenience of easier sales that is your problem, not theirs. General discussion gaming forums are almost always a cesspit of ignorance and trolls.

I do not think botters should get access to free tabs. It's like $2 to sell items with one tab but that barrier to entry provides SO much value.
*Never forgetting how good this game looked at 32:9 instead of 1/3 of my screen being black bars.*
