I'll bite that apple. I have never engaged in trade, so I wasn't really cognizant of the utility of Premium tabs in trade. It took the new asynchronous trade mechanism to bring any of that to my attention. Had that been on my "radar," yes, I would absolutely have considered it P2W. Any core in-game mechanic which requires a purchase to utilize is unfair. ='[.]'=

These are quite hyperbolic. A company saying to be one thing and doing the opposite is an issue even if "everyone" is fine with it (Note: Not everyone is okay with it).

poe stashes pay for convenience are p2w. but on the scale of p2wness its still rather low on the list.

tho anyone saying convenience is not an advantage are being dishonest.

SO here's the thing:

buying stash tabs as a business model makes sense: when it comes to storage tabs, quad tabs, etc.

They also have MTX.



HOWEVER



Premium tabs and these new tabs offer a different functionality: its a distinct in-game advantage beyond anything a non-payer can ever achieve. It is so significant as to be almost a completely different game experience because of how terrible the "Base" trade system is.

That is a true problem, and very much P2W.

As things go more and more towards async and FASTER trade.....this is more and more of a P2W. The difference between the haves and have nots steadily increases.



GGG's original model was selling mtx and stash tabs that basically had ZERO impact on gameplay. These have SIGNIFICANT impact on gameplay which puts them in a completely different category.

And to the guy who questions why people bring up OG premium tabs in this context....its because this new form of trade EXACERBATES what was already a smaller problem, into a much broader and potentially more P2W problem.



All that said......its STILL the right design decision the way it is precisely because it protects against botting. if even a little. I'd rather have a small amount of P2W if it meant keeping the bots away from destroying the ENTIRE game....than for all of us to play "equally" within a broken botted game.

i would prefer if a free preem tab for trade was just handed out to players that finished campaign. it would also deter botters somewhat.

but if i m being perfectly honest. i m pretty sure GGG profits off of botters. botters WOULD actually buy preem stashes. its simply the cost of running their business.

in WoW, botters, carry services, rmt thrive. blizzard bans them in waves, but they keep coming back. for them to come back requires them to PURCHASE a new game. but yet they return.

as long as the cost of running the business is low enough that you still get profit. people will continue doing what they do.

putting a gold tax for async trade and making gold only farmable (cannot get gold any other way except playing the game), can actually be more effective than paywalling the feature.

as of now, we actually should be thanking the botters as theyre actually giving GGG more revenue since they need preem stashes to list their sales

Quite a bunch of people are disgusted with trade/bots/rmt and just want nothing to do with it. Keep everything as is, just give the SSF players an actual SSF mode with balanced drops (maybe something like LE). Current SSF is more of a copium mode.

If you finish the campaign you get to choose a free purchaseable tab, from a list. This could be a premium tab, a currency tab, a map tab, etc. But you only get it once per account.

It won't ever happen, but its certainly an interesting idea. "Priming the pump" of those who typically wouldn't buy anything, so to speak. Because once you get one...its far more likely you'll buy more.

i m a whale. i have more preem tabs than i care to acknowledge. i overspent on the game but one thing i learned is, grown up men can be generous with their money on things they appreciate and love.

i loved this game a huge lot. not as much now tho

We won't have to engage with the old trade system. That is a win.
