Waystone sustain

"
What's going on with waystone sustain?

If I use 1 waystone to access a map, and receive 1 waystone from the map boss (and sometimes final boss doesn't drop waystone, and sometimes I fail the map), then how this supposed to work?
Who tested this before implementation?

Waystones are 1ex each. Are you out of currency?
SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.

I'm talking about the philosophy behind the game design. I can sustain my waystones, I know all about the solutions. I'm saying the game doesn't need to be designed that way, and infinite normal waystone stock on NPC doesn't affect 99% of the players who are so adamant at defending the higher-end juiced waystone sustain.

It's a little hard for me to understand why people want to refute suggestions that don't affect them at all. :(

Let me clarify: Your suggestion would be great if GGG were trying to build an action came with a focus on tactical game-play. They aren't. They're building a slot machine with combat elements. Content isn't the focus. Content is a reward, a prize, a payout.

Allowing you to get waystones infinitely means they remove one of the prizes in this slot machine. As it is, waystone have value because they aren't infinite. Which is yet another dopamanine trigger. Yet another item to store in the stash, and yet another thing that can be traded.

I agree waystone should not be distributed the way they are, but I also understand the devs aren't building that type of game.

I know some players are unable to have waystone sustain. To solve this problem is easy.

ggg just need to let doriyani sell unlimited supplies of waystones. This should be an easy fix.

GGG wants waystones to be a reward and have value. There's your answer.

POE2 system is way better than POE1 as well.

- You get a map guaranteed from the boss at the same level of the map you are running in POE2.

- You don't get flooded with lower level maps which also keeps the value of those lower level maps up.

When I got to maps, I bought 1 T9, 1 T12, 1 T15 and never had to worry about map sustain ever again.

You certainly do NOT get a map from the boss unless you have a certain +chance to find a waystone. With +100 I get exactly 1 waystone from each map, very rarely I get some from chest. In 0,3 I got character to level 96 by grinding mostly blue t15 maps and there was such an amount of waystones that I could afford to sell the ones with chilled ground, vaal some and toss away the faulty t14´s and I still had a surplus. This is impossible to do now, because if you run blue only you will be out of them eventually because if your chance to get waystone is not high enough you can run a map and not get any at all.

I guess I've never run a blue map. So I didn't know you can fail to get a map from a boss. Every single map boss has dropped a map for me so I thought it was guaranteed. Not sure if the waystone chance has always been over 100%. I've run a lot of maps as I'm midway to lvl98 now.

On average I seem to be getting about 3 T15 maps for every T15 map I run (1-2 from the map boss and a random one from rares) . So I can pick and choose which ones I want to run. I sell all the ones that roll with ele pen or -max res.
