Waystone sustain

What's going on with waystone sustain?

If I use 1 waystone to access a map, and receive 1 waystone from the map boss (and sometimes final boss doesn't drop waystone, and sometimes I fail the map), then how this supposed to work?
Who tested this before implementation?

Buy them from Doryani if you fail or they don't drop. You can merge 3 t14 to get a t15
Are you sure that is a good design and it is intended? Also they are not infinite

I didn't say it's good design or not. You asked how waystone sustain works, and I answered. I never ran out of waystones so it's not a problem I can comment on

Worst case scenario if you really run out of waystones even after buying them from Doryani, then trading is also an option
This is a feedback thread. I am asking GGG on how it was designed. I don't know why people feel to run their defense when it is needed and when it is not
Not being able to sustain waystones is not a general problem of the game, it is indeed a "you" problem. You usually find a good amount of extra waystones in the maps itself, even at lower tiers.

I currently have 62 T15, 2 T16 and 10 T14s that used to be T15s in my stash, so I found 74 waystones more than I used up and I'm not juicing everything to the max, I just alch+vaal all T15s I find and put whatever good tablets I got into the map device. I'm also missing 20% waystone quantity on my atlas since I've set it for rituals mainly.

What you can do is:

- Skill your atlas to increase waystone quantity and amount of monsters
- Upgrade waystones for quantity
- Run extra content (expedition logbooks often contain waystone chests that contain a good amount)
- Don't die so much
- If all else fails: Buy new waystones from Doryani
Personally I hate this "you have to do it the RIGHT way to sustain" because waystone is the absolute bare minimum entrance requirement to the endgame.

I'm sure nobody in their right mind would dispute this. If you don't have waystones, you can't do endgame. This is just a fact.

So now, why design a game where, even if it is 100% the player's fault for being an absolute idiot, why, design it so that the player can ever run out of waystones?

Imagine a game with gear repair but you need to study the market and economy to make money or otherwise you will eventually run out of gold to repair, your gear items will break, and you end up naked with no gear and zero gold in the endgame, and any random attack from a weak mob will oneshot you.

Sure, it's your fault for not learning how to earn money properly, but what even is the reason of designing the game like that?

IMO normal waystones of T1-T15 should be infinitely stocked at all times. There's no point punishing people for not playing optimally. The fact that sub-optimal play results in sub-optimal rewards is good enough "punishment".
Doriani has a limited supply of t14 waystones that refreshes only when you level up and thus becomes completely useless as a vendor once you reach a certain level. I had a surplus of waystones and tablets from running mostly BLUE t15 maps in 0,3, now I am barely getting by by running 4 and six mod maps and yes, I have all waystone droprate nodes on atlas, I tried to get waystone drop rate on a map as high as I could and it didn´t really help and I don´t die at all.

If you don't die at all, you'll get at LEAST one waystone from the map boss for your next run. Are you sure your item filter isn't hiding waystones from you?

My experience in 0,3,1 is such that the one waystone per map does not work unless I do at least a 4 mod map and that gives me reliably just that one. It didn´t really work with last rare in 0,3 either but they were dropping from chests and such so it was not a problem. I run an armored character so I avoid maps with armour break mods=negative balance.
