i prefer rares hidden.
Those who zoom can miss them, those who clear maps methodically will hunt them all. Zooming is same as filtering items - you either view/pick up all staff or you skip as much content as possible looking only for cherrypicking. Thats the choice.

Yet i would like rares to appear on minimap if you already engages (agro) them. Because of visual mess on the screen, you rarely can understand is it rare there or just random mob.

Rares being hidden could work as it encourages players to full clear the map which was a common strategy in PoE1.

However, unlike PoE1, it's pretty much pointless to fight anything less than rare mobs outside of experience. You can't juice quantity to such a degree that even white mobs have a chance at dropping something good, so they're a waste of your time.

Exactly . But showing rares icons is not a correct solution to this, it just makes the game worse making it connect thw dot minimap game.
It should be adressed deeper and white mobs should be more durable and have better loot, players should fight them rather then "clear" and have reason to do so.

And since rares are nolonger required for map completion it shoukd be no extra reason to search for every rare on map. May be only on very good maps.
But in moat cases you should just open next map and run it normally.

Loot should not be hard linked to rares only, but rather split among whites and rares, and white mobs should not be that trashy.

Hopefully now with reduced packsize they'll work on that issue in new major update.

THE WHOLE FUCKING GAME IS A CONNECT THE DOT MINI GAME.

load map > go pack to pack (dot to dot) > kill > Goto any other DOT for extra content > kill > goto the biggest DOT (the boss) > kill it. > leave.

and this jonathan dude literally said we dont want to make it so its ping pong

MF the whole game is ping ponging from one monster pack to the next. it makes no difference if we are ping ponging to a rare, or a MF pack of monsters. its the SAME DOT TO DOT GAMEPLAY.
