Please keep the Rares hidden

+1 to being an option
options are good.
took you years to learn that with ruhless mods/atlas tree/ scarabs for specific content
dont unlearn it
Add options in interface UI to hide/show elites on map.. should be easy.. wait no.. they couldn't add separate button for sprint/ or button to disable sprint.. so no it's apparently to hard.

I actually prefer rares hidden.

What shoul happen is that you get a rare icon one you are close to one of them and no dormant rares.

Basically this, if you find a rare, the icon becomes always visible until you kill them
I think they should stay hidden.

A good compromise here I think is that the remaining rares become revealed after you kill the map boss.

Make it a toggle option so the people who enjoy playing blind can be happy too

Theres no one enjoying the rare icons off.
These couple of odd comments completely out of nowhere ''unpopular opinions'' are employees trying to damage control.
Rares being hidden could work as it encourages players to full clear the map which was a common strategy in PoE1.

However, unlike PoE1, it's pretty much pointless to fight anything less than rare mobs outside of experience. You can't juice quantity to such a degree that even white mobs have a chance at dropping something good, so they're a waste of your time.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

Here's this big empty map that has a few rare mobs sprinkled throughout and a boss. Only rare mobs and the boss drop loot. Now go run around for 5 minutes playing hide n seek.

I tried to run through a "big empty map", I got swarmed and overwhelmed and almost died, pretty sure you can't rush through maps unless you have a meta build that clear screens while watching second monitor, besides...trash gives good xp and white drops.

When i saw someone suggesting this being a toggleable option i was like...

Exactly....this is the proper way to approach design....

Finally, someone with a calm mind who suggested something useful

I prefer them off for multiple reasons.

1 -- i'm not so stupid that I need an icon to guide me.

2 -- I enjoy watching you all cry about having to use 1/100th of your brain.

3 -- make xp loss on death -20% experience, and de-leveling while dying at 0% experience. I wanna see some tears.

The third one is just a bonus :)
