Lag Fix Inside - After Fighting For Hours I Found a Fix!
placebo; doesn't work. it's a routing issue which won't be fixed by shader caches.

this is part of the problem and was a fix for poe 2 but not with poe 1. its network side. probably because too many people on the servers that are supposed to be on eu/asia

The weird thing is - either I have the craziest RL RNG or the servers got fixed. Because since I made this change I did not have any disconnects, in spite playing on Frankfurt server.

I tried this yesterday, desperate because of crashes every few minutes with progress loss, "unplayable"... and I honestly don't care if it's just a placebo for others, or if the solution only works for the author and no one else. But I can share my experience since yesterday when I increased that cache.
Since then (it hasn't even been 24 hours yet), I haven't had a single crash or any lag caused by the server malfunctioning, two constant issues before trying this solution. Obviously, this has nothing to do with the game's *performance* issues caused by weak hardware. When there's a lot of mobs and effects, my FPS drops with my setup, but that's a different thing. What I was experiencing yesterday was clearly a problem with the EU server, and right now I have no issues with this fix. I don't have any proof or data to show, and I have no reason to lie to anyone, you mean nothing to me, I don't need to do anything for you or say anything for your sake. What I do know for sure is that when I removed the cache increase, the crashes came back. That's the only proof I need. *For me*, this works great. Unfortunately, my PC's performance is still the same. Anyone would think an RTX 4060 and an i5-13400F would be enough, but I get massive drops on very crowded maps. I guess this game needs a next-gen i9 and a 4090 at the very least, and no, it's not a connection issue (I have a fast enough connection to share with the whole neighborhood and still have great gaming speed, so that’s definitely not the problem, lol). |

"Yes, it absolutely is a connection problem. You can have the fastest internet there is and it won't help you when your traffic gets fucked on the way to the game servers. |

Look, if you don't believe it or it doesn't help you, that's fine, move on but this has helped me and so many others. No reason to sit and argue.

What the actual F? I was just desperate enough to try it and I am glad I did. I was pulling my hair out and I now I am playing. Thank you!
Edit: I should clarify. I was getting disconnected constantly. As soon as I logged into any US server my latency would fluctuate between double and triple digits and finally quadruple digits and disconnect. It was happening constantly on Sunday, then not at all yesterday, then I couldn't play at all when I got home today. This fixed it after spending 30 angry minutes jumping from server to server and even trying VPNs to trick it. Last edited by Rustmonger#1303 on Jun 16, 2025, 7:14:42 PM

If it works, it won't be the first time a completely unrelated code (graphics) affects network performance. That's why they call it spaghetti code lol.

The servers are getting hit by DDOS attacks causing the lag. People quit the game, make changes to their PC/game, the DDOS attack stops, they log in and everything is fixed and they think it was their voodoo changes. It happens.
