Bring back old supporter packs?

"
Well I hope GGG does not listen to people like Baumis whose prior accounts were banned because ... and now wants to get their old supporter mtx back. Your goal and intentions are crystal clear.

What is wrong with you?! I had my accounts deleted on personal request.

Dude, no. Aside from the direct quotes from government sites, everything you've said is misinformation.

Dude, what exactly is “misinformation” according to you? Care to elaborate? Or is just saying “misinformation” your go-to when there’s nothing of substance to respond with?

Aside from the direct quotes I used from government sources, everything I said is based on how GGG operates within the bounds of what’s legally allowed.

They’re not just arbitrarily choosing not to re-release old supporter packs, there are legal implications. When something is marketed as limited, exclusive, or leaving the store forever, reintroducing it later can create real problems under advertising and consumer protection laws.

I personally wouldn’t care if they brought the packs back. It’s a game. I don’t need limited MTX as a form of self-validation. But many people have likely purchased these packs specifically because they were labeled as limited, as a form of flex, to feel like they got something others couldn’t.
And yeah, those are exactly the types of players who do get entitled and would absolutely file complaints if GGG reversed their stance. In a community this size, it wouldn’t take many to cause issues.

Sure, they’d probably make good money re-releasing old cosmetics now and then. But again that doesn’t magically override legal or reputational risk.
Just because you or I want them to do something doesn’t mean they can.

So no, it’s not “misinformation.” It’s a grounded, reasonable take, supported by actual sources and basic business sense.

They started this "exclusivity" trend in 2019, and only in this form:
Blessed be the web archive.

Indeed, blessed be the web, truly a gift.

GGG was using “limited time” and “exclusive” well before 2019, with multiple official announcements clearly stating packs/mtx would leave the store forever. Even something as simple as the PoE forums acts as a solid archive and blast from the past, shame for those who weren’t around back then.

I couldn’t be bothered to compile every single instance, so here’s just a small sample of well-advertised, limited-time, never-returning packs as they were clearly presented.

Kinda wild how easy it is to verify, yet how often it seems to fly under the radar, even among those who’ve supposedly been around a long time and spent plenty supporting the game.

All right, so I was partly mistaken. Doesn't change the fact that not every pack has those words. They explicitly state that microtransactions within these packs will not appear in the store. If they re-release those, no issue.

And, for the others: If they release re-skinned versions of them with different microtransactions within them, there's no legal issue. There, problem solved.

Not that it's ever gonna happen anyway, so why bother talking about it so much.

Dude, this is like my third account. I've spent literal thousands over the years. I even bought the $1100 pack back then, to make a Div card. I can only speak for myself here, but I honestly wouldn't mind if they did bring them back, in fact, I'd love it. Every "die hard" supporter should remind themselves what the money was used for, so it doesn't matter anymore.

GGG got such big support from us becayse they are not just another scummy company that tries their hardest to milk players. Bringing back old supporter packs would shatter that image in an instant. There is literally not a single reason to bring them back other than "we just want more money lol".

Yeah, they’ve done it both ways and they've been pretty clear that packs and the MTX in them aren’t coming back to the store. Reskins are fine, but maybe for the best they don’t do them in most cases, seen too many nice MTX get ruined with weird color swaps.

We are also talking about a game that despite what anyone says, is nearing its end of life.

People have said that for 10 years, but alright.

They cant bring them back. They were selling them for over 10 years on the premise that they are TIME LIMITED and will NEVER come back.

We are also talking about a game that despite what anyone says, is nearing its end of life. Why not do the standard MMO procedure of beating it for every penny they can? I'm normally against such ideas, but if it gets GGG some money and gives them a reason to keep it around longer... I'm kinda on board.

Such a stupid argument. Why would PoE near its end?
PoE1 broke player numbers almost every subsequent league. PoE2 had higher numbers because of marketing, people giving away many free keys and "NEW GAME". PoE2 has as bad a player retention as any other ARPG.

If they keep developing for PoE1, there will be plenty PoE1 players that will support it.

Stop trying to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy that it might end. Many players, including me, prefer PoE1 over PoE2.
