" If you’ve truly been “engaging” with the game, it’s strange how many basic, unavoidable achievements any active player would naturally complete, not even a week into a fresh league are still untouched. And it’s not just Settlers, your achievement history shows a long-standing pattern of minimal interaction. It’s hard to take your “observations” seriously when you've been on the sidelines for more than just one league. In a game like PoE, passive observation doesn’t cut it, you need to actually feel the impact of changes firsthand to form a real perspective. Yet it’s always the same chorus: “endgame too hard,” “boss fights overtuned,” “T17 unfair”, but those complaints almost always come from players who barely step beyond the campaign. The loudest demands and wildest predictions like some looming scary rebalancing because of a QoL change, or imaginary "gatekeeping" of endgame content tend to come from those least engaged. Meanwhile, endgame is wide open to anyone who actually plays the game. Saying you "play on your own terms" is really just a more polite way of admitting you don’t engage much with what the game actually offers. And yet, somehow, there’s always something new to complain about—always another reason to crank up the artificial fear meter over changes that wouldn’t even impact those who barely engage, even if those fearful, dreamlike scenarios ever happened. As a side note, I’d honestly welcome a full-on rebalance if GGG ever decided to take the time—but let’s be real that’s not happening, especially not as some kind of backlash to a basic QoL feature that just lets people pause the game to step away for a moment without needing to zone out, or die for simply being AFK. " You say you “might be right” based on years of observing PoE’s development, but observation without participation only gets you so far. Skipping the 4th lab, ignoring core mechanics, and struggling with mid-tier bosses while barely interacting with league content doesn’t exactly scream insight. A level 91 character played over 9 months with minimal progress doesn’t lend much credibility to sweeping claims about design balance or GGG’s direction. Anybody else want to belittle my chosen experience of PoE? There are a few of the usual suspects who haven't chimed in to dunk on me, yet. Now's your opportunity to "win" the internet, show off your e-peen.
It's my opinion that the pause feature exported from the "other" game will result in gameplay consequences. In my experience, GGG doesn't change or add features without some collateral alterations. The fact that I play slowly, have never fought an "uber" anybody, and have never had a character with DPS in excess of 100k (as an outlier) doesn't change the validity of my opinion. Pause is what GGG is leading with in announcing this expansion, and I expect more mechanics lifted from the "other" game will constitute a significant portion of what we see, as they are low-effort, granular elements to add to a game which they have otherwise chosen to neglect for most of a year. And every one they add will increase the likelihood that PoE will change in ways which some may find unpalatable. Meanwhile, I'll play the game for as long as I continue to enjoy it; if GGG changes it too much, well, there are other things I can do with my spare time. ='[.]'= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

" HOW?! You can't say that, multiple times, without offering ANY reasons why or how. Especially while touting game experience. Offering a "will result in gameplay consequence / balance changes" without anything to back it up based on your "experience" is why people are piling on top of you. The people commenting on why it WON'T are doing so because they are thinking about the gameplay and how a pause function interacts. You aren't. You are only speaking based on some historical evidence you are keeping close to the belt, but not ACTUAL gameplay. There is no aspect of current PoE that fundamentally changes because we can suddenly now "pause". Pausing is not this ridiculous uber-power we suddenly have in our control. It is simply a long overdue, basic BASIC QoL. Like how they started dropping currency in stacks. Or as another mentioned: stash affinities. Or more recent: being able to fill a trade screen with 1 click. Or deposit into our stash with one click. Or even more obvious, and with much broader potential consequence, the currency exchange. But much of that QoL was within the last year, which you haven't experienced much of. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on May 27, 2025, 12:57:02 PM

" They won't rebalance the campaign or white maps. They have more important matters and changes to put their dev time into lol Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. Last edited by Pashid#4643 on May 27, 2025, 12:55:37 PM

" Yep! Sadly, those matters are called "PoE2". Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" GGG won't rebalance content. They'll rebalance mechanics. But I see what you did there. 8/10. =9[.]9= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

" I was thinking more about the PoE1 related matters for the next league, but you're not wrong with PoE2 lol " Exactly, they rebalance something from time to time to keep the game fresh, but not to counter little QoL changes out of despise. Glad you noticed that :) Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. Last edited by Pashid#4643 on May 27, 2025, 1:08:58 PM
