Losing way too much exp on death in end game
I vote for no exp on death ever. Its just deleting my time when it happens.
However it ain't gonna happen, you gotta go burn currency on Omen of Amelioration. With this active in ya inventory you only loose 2.5% exp on death. The current going rate is about 7-9 Ex per Omen of Amelioration on the currency exchange. I work around this by not doing any risky content in endgame once I have more than about 15% exp for the level, so no bosses, breach, ritual, delerium, ascend trials - nothing that can delete me in 1 shot (which is the only way I die, something kills me instantly and I never know what it is - just the YOURE DEAD message appearing on screen). It really sucks because I'm not engaging with most content, I'm actively avoiding it because I refuse to dumpster the time I've put into the character. For context I'm greasing my way thru maps easy as, its not that I'm running stuff I'm not leveled for. Its that I can get ganked, have no clue why and log off cos there goes all my progress for the last 2 days of my play time. It feels bad mang. |

I am ardently anti-XP theft by devs. Who are you to simply erase my time spent? Is this my job? Is national security at stake? Lighten the eff up.

" Yes, thank you! This is the point we are trying to prove. Everything you mentioned relies on RNG and/or trading to improve your character. At the current state of the game this means you can spend months grinding low tier maps for no reward that actually improves your build, so you can advance via items. So if we are not masochists, the only thing we can do is grind experience, that comes by hard and is taken away very easy either by bad maps or lag spikes. Those straws we are grasping at seem to be the same sticks you try to beat us down with. Losing the content of the maps you are doing is punishment enough, losing experience is not needed whatsoever. |

Ultimately, you can keep crying about it for as long as you want, i have absolutely no doubt it's here to stay.

Nobody's crying bud. This is an Early Access Discussion forum. If you have no arguments to discuss I guess you accept our view points.
We are asking for the removal of a useless game mechanic and they could change it if it pops up on their radar as an issue. |

I think its completely fine and I actually like it.
Its neccessary in order to maintain the prestige levels 90+ currently have. You can use the omen that prevents 75% of XP loss for example, it helps a lot. Also, you should just view level ~90 as the max lvl for your build, everything above lvl 90 is just a prestige you can earn, but don't have to. I mean, its not like you level down or something. I dont get the dislike here |

Omen of Amelioration While this item is active in your inventory will prevent 75% of Experience loss when you die Last edited by ryszek#5266 on Apr 14, 2025, 11:50:36 PM

I understand the need for exponentially increasing EXP penalties on death in endgame. It *should* be really hard to make progress beyond lvl 90. You can also use the corresponding omen for a 75% reduction of the EXP penalty, if you're eager.
That being said, this creates this awkward situation where I only want to attempt more challenging content like Pinnacle bosses right after I leveled up, because I won't be able to lose any EXP. What I would like to see is the option to freeze our XP at will. So if we want to try more challenging content or farm harder stuff for just the loot, we won't lose massive amounts of EXP progress, but we also won't gain any during that time. So many excuses to not do lower tier maps...you realize you can find very good gear in all maps tiers? You talk about exp but without realizing that you won't reach level 100 ever, this is not D4, the endgame starts at lvl 65, not 100.
Also if you look at stats on poe2db you'll realise that most stats reach their last tier in the 70s with some exception in the 80s so you can find a good spot and farm that level range. Anyway...you only need to get better at the game, excuses won't lead you anywhere. Tech guy Last edited by Warrax#2850 on Apr 15, 2025, 12:36:45 AM

Some of you must be trolling here. Many of the best bases in the game like Grand Spear can only drop in T15s, what are you all talking about?
My character probably has 6-7 div worth of gear on it currently. Finding upgrades for anything but my rings in lower tiered content would be double the difficulty than doing T14-T15s slowly and methodically. And the difficulty of the tiers is completely negligible in terms of mob difficulty. It's all about how juiced the map is and the level difference between character and the mobs in the waystone. The tier itself is meaningless. If you are level 82+ and doing lowered tier maps please do share what kind of items you are grinding for in T6s or whatever lowered content you are happy with?
