We want auto pickup companion subscription based like China users have.

I'm glad that the Chinese version aspects are still being pushed out in front of everyone, because it hugely contributes to aspects of the base (international version) game that seem wonky and out of place. Things like the lack of a damage/death log. Lack of decent starting storage amount and even the ability to auto-sort inventory. Just look at the QoL features that the serious guy has been posting and the long-time conspicuous lack of in the base game.

My current understanding is that the monetization of all of these, otherwise normal features in a lot of games, for a long time, is why we don't and will not get these in the base game. Same reason auction/trade house likely won't come in, xp death penalty will stay. Poor loot forcing people to poor trade mechanics will stay. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to monetize those in the Chinese version. At least not without starting another kerfuffle between the two regional versions.

Essentially, the base version is the crappy version, with all kinds of marketing spin to convince people that they're elite if they suffer through the garbage loop. All with the express purpose to put out the better, albeit heavily more monetized version to the Chinese players.

Neither is an actual ARPG in the sense that most people these days think of one. As it exists today, it's just a bait and switch, monetized gotcha game with the illusion of complexity, when there are very few successful ways to "complete" the game unless you fall into the always-present OP, exploitative builds with the chase gear.

That gets boring and people leave or people get tired of trying to play the game AS IF it were an actual ARPG and leave. Either way, server load empties out, saving money, things are tweaked, different OP builds/gear are designed and rinse and repeat every three/four months ad nauseam. When the new season comes out, those that are properly conditioned to repeat this cycle come back with money in hand to get their power fantasy fix, and new people try the game and get their stash tabs.

As I see it, this is the business model, and we will see if the predictions I've made for this game will be how Tencent/GGG want to continue running things. You will end up with very similar games, but that won't really matter if they stagger the leagues, because the same people will play both and end up contributing more money than they do now. And, they will likely continue to grow, because they have a nice little conditioning and addiction formula here that's been proven out.

I hope they actually try to make a real game, instead of this corrupted version of one, but I'm not holding my breath. Time will tell.
Just for context, this was in the Early Access Feedback originally and got moved to this section.
sheeesh.

if you do the p2w experimentations, game is gonna die. we're not china :)

if you do it, do it for poe1 only and dont touch poe2 lol
save the fresh game.

P2W crap can stay away.

It's an implicit subscription fee, and undermines all the forwarded purchases done by players that actually paid for the game development in the form of support, which was given based on how GGG positioned themselves in the market, when they were still their own.

Wonder what Chris would say about this.

Oh wait..

Instead, they can improve QoL further and make sure we don't hurt our wrists from all the clicks instead of making it worse to increase the reason to purchase it away. But that would mean too much difference between clients, it would mean the chinese players would not have to purchase a pet anymore.

So they can give us the pet for free, and anything else they come up with that is basically related to (intentional) poor ingame QoL with the accompanying purchase to 'fix' it.

GGG was big enough to stop releasing some new type of splinters with a stash tab to fix the clutter a good while ago, I personally don't want to go back and then have it much worse. It will lead to the point the game will be considered unplayable without the pet, pretty damn soon.
Did you try turning it off and on again?
You can add this and AH to poe2 that game is designed on new takes of poe1.

Do not add this bullshit to poe1.

I agree. Add as much P2W as you want into PoE 2. Hell, sell XP and BiS items in the MTX shop for all I care, I'm sure all these new players will love it.

But keep PoE 1 pure from shit like that.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
Nah, I don't want it.
+1 to all the features mentioned in the OP. Tencent are now the full owners/controllers, so rip this bandaid off and drop the illusion.

There are so many ARPG "features" that are just absurd to consider in 2025 like manually identifying items, manually picking up tons of currency items divided into smaller portions ON PURPOSE (e.g. sim splinters), manually sorting everything in inventory, constant inexplicable deaths everywhere, etc.

The absurd masochistic practices of POE make D2 (the "inspiration") from TWENTY YEARS AGO look modern in comparison.
I want it

AND AH!
Auctioneer House - is a MUST!
'POE2' is not 'POE1 2.0'! https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3614313
