The goals for Exile 2 are big, but people are forgetting their is a lot more content nearly done than what was launched and just needed some polishing.

Depending on how long things take, I do think releasing a rerun league would be a good option to tide people over, possibly remixed a little with older league mechanics that people enjoyed. Something relatively quick to put together but would be fun while the team works on getting Exile 2 out of early access.

Please don't let the pressure crush the team's dreams! Your goals are big, and it's understandable to fall short sometimes! But God damn am I excited and so are others. Wishing GGG the absolute best, and thank you for the effort and love. ❤️

PoE2 has more players not because it is better, but because it is a different game. The main marketing ploy of PoE2 was that it is the "ideological successor to Diablo2". It is indeed a Diablo-like game that matches the "vision" of the developers, but for most of the player base of the first part, PoE1 is the unique and inimitable game that we loved. We were promised an improved version, but we got an improved copy of Diablo 2... In fact, the second part is 3 steps forward and 4 steps back. I understand that GGG wanted to develop and the result was PoE2, but not everyone supports this result. So, basically, we (the core community) were abandoned and betrayed...

Love both PoE 1 and 2, 2 was pretty much a new league for me, hehe.

Just a reminder, this isn't a small indie studio from a decade ago. This is a studio owned by a large Chinese conglomerate. Jonathan isn't your friend. Chris isn't your friend. They sold out long ago and don't care anymore about the golden goose they milked for the last five years to help fund POE 2. Shareholders are all that matter and that will matter to them going forward.

2 is so far from 1 that it isn't the same game, not for us vets who have spent thousands of dollars and hours on it. It's really not even close. The movement is quite literally unplayable with my current build. If we don't get 1 anymore, I sure as hell ain't going to stick around for 2.

Last Epoch is looking so much better than 2 is right now. And Hero Siege, etc...

Abandoning PoE1 for the sake of PoE 2/10 wasn't worth it. Continuing this same mistake for PoE 0.2 is mind blowing.

If you could promise the next patch for PoE 2 was a 1.0 release that added all missing Acts, Classes, Ascendancies and Weapons; it still wouldn't be good enough. PoE 2 has years before it resembles anything close to what PoE 1 has had going for it since even before 3.0.

What I absolutely hate about Johnathan is this promise of 'just one more patch for PoE2'... Most people probably don't remember but PoE2's early access was initially slated for summer of 2024 and they barely got it out before the end of the year. When do you realistically forecast PoE 2 to be a standalone game that can exist without 100% of GGG's 'round-the-clock development and resources? The answer certainly isn't any time in 2025 so I don't know why you're talking about 0.2 like that'll be the end of it.

You say you haven't figured out how to deliver two games at the same time. You should ask yourselves why you're trying to make 2 games that reach (and compete with) the same audience. Everything you develop for PoE 2 comes at the opportunity cost of what you could have developed for PoE 1.

I was shocked when PoE 2 EA was on the verge of launching and people here and on reddit had figured out a way to tally their lifetime expenditures on supporter packs to see if they qualified for a free access key to PoE2. What blew me away was how many people had spent more than they thought they had--myself included. The 'sticker shock' of seeing multiple thousands of dollars to support a game and development team that was widely loved by the community. That good will has been wiped out in the span of 2 months. Read the room. You've lost a lot of people's support and now you're doubling down on the behaviour that lost it? For the sake of pushing PoE 2 from 0.1.1 to 0.2. That's unbelievable.

I think you need to take a look at the feedback the community has responded with to this announcement and ask yourselves if you need to pivot.
