A Message to Path of Exile 1 Players
Well. Obviously, it's not good news, but thanks for finally facing the reality, and talking to your PoE1 community about the future of the original game. Watching the obvious pain on Jonathan's face as he admits that things have gone off the rails... I mean, it sucks for PoE1 fans, but it's also gotta suck for the team at GGG. These are gamers at heart, who only want to make a great game that people love playing, and you can just tell that it hurts them when they fall short.
Reality is what it is, though, and having confirmation that the new game you just released is going to continue receiving the attention and resources it needs to get to 0.2 as quickly as possible is great news for the greatest number of your paying customers, more of whom joined for PoE2 than ever played PoE1. I have to feel like this is the right call for PoE2, for the future of Grinding Gear Games, and for PoE1 as well... eventually. I would suggest that your process of restructuring the studio to support both games, post-PoE2v0.2, should include something that looks like a road map so that your player community knows what you're prioritizing, and in what order you expect to tackle those priorities. It doesn't have to be cast in stone, or anything, but with the understanding that it's subject to change... it wouldn't just help restore the confidence of your players, it might also help you organize yourselves. Just a thought. I'm all in on PoE2 at this point, and wasn't really planning to go back to PoE1 at all (unless 3.26 looks absolutely GODLY, of course, I'm not made of stone), but I'll still be supporting you while you impose some order on the chaos. Stay sane, exiles! Looking forward to the next (hopefully happier) update. Stay sane, exiles!

You ruined my day, but also the game that I loved the most. GL with PoE2, i'm off.

It's fun to read the responses. I have over 18k hours in POE1 and haven't visited it since POE2 launched EA. It was clear they underestimated the scope of both games together months ago. I don't feel any negativity, he was sincere and GGG has always admitted when they make a mistake. I will continue to support them and hope you all find something that's fun for you.

Bad news. Shit happens, it's understandable, over the years of incredible play, a huge level of trust has been built up, it's a shame that all efforts were thrown into poe 2, which is not for me at all.
In order not to kill the interest and desire to return to your game and survive these dark times for poe 1, 100% you need to add some simple events, just to dilute the atmosphere. (my opinion) |

With all the recent L takes, this makes me miss Chris lies.

So is that means you lied to everyone before the release of poe2 EA that you wouldn’t give up poe1?
And you still not create a new folder for 3.26 right now? Can poe1 players who supported you all the time can have some compensation? |

Congratulations, GGG; you've sold your soul and the future of your studio for profits.
It breaks my heart to know that not only have you betrayed those who helped you rise to such heights, but that your word as a studio is meaningless now that you've traded it in. GGG used to be the studio that players loved because they broke the mould that other studios were cast from; because your transparency and candidness allowed players to take your word at face value, rather than wondering when the rug would be pulled. This doesn't just tarnish the name of your studio, but also erodes confidence developers who rise to success in your wake. I hope it was worth it. |

That's what happens when they release an unfinished game. I've been playing poe 1 for 8 years, and I think it's time to change genres. poe2 isn't even 20% of what poe 1 is. rest in peace poe1

" BASED TAKE. We love the ability to think for ourselves and not circle jerk reddit takes or twitch emotes, I 10000% agree. PoE 1 & PoE 2 are both going to be fine, GGG will be fine. PoE as a franchise isn't doomed. D4 Still bad, anyone saying they're moving to D4, or D3 as a knee-jerk reaction will for sure be back to plug in 300 hours when 3.26 drops. |
