I think OP post is wrong.

They dont care too much about player retention, they care about who will come back next league. Their business model relies in ppl coming back every league, that is where they sell the supporter packs, Chris Wilson once said that. You can check in Youtube his presentation 'Designing PoE to be played forever.'

So if you want send them a message, dont come back when they release the next big patch in PoE2 with economy reset

It doesn't work if they alienate both sides though. Players like myself.

I haven't really enjoyed PoE1 since Expedition. When they tried to cull player power creep but just gave in and screwed up everything in the process. Spells/Bow Supremacy for years. There's literally a meter you fill by spamming maps to fight bosses. Enemy Density is just comical. I really can't see myself going back to PoE1 after seeing the potential of PoE2 from the early Acts.

..and at the same time I don't feel like playing an Alpha version of PoE2 that's broken past the acts and has terrible skill options among other issues. So I'll just play neither.

Hell. I might do a run through Diablo 1 just to remind myself how it's done proper.

they added waypoints to maps which was an idea myself and probably others suggested. they do listen but there are a lot of big problems and if they take too long to fix them lots of people will leave
the last 10 years prove otherwise, so..
GGG doesn't have time and human resource to process 99% of feedback, game is too unfinished, too many problems with management and too ancient infrastructure. Game will probably have "beta"-like quality in 1 year, and be finished in 2-3 years.
Streamers on copium who hope it will be better soon are just delusional. But we are all addicted that helps GGG a lot.

It is also very apparent that they didn't understand that request at all, and just slapped few waypoints there to seem like they thought about the feedback for even one minute.

it can be improved for sure, but to say its not without uses is downplaying it by a huge lot. a step in the right direction i would say.
